macOS mail redirect not working

I seem to be having untoward problems using the Redirect command in Apple mail.

I end up having to:

  1. Issue to Redirect command
  2. Set the destination address
  3. Save and close the email
  4. Open the email out of drafts folder
  5. Insert the destination address (again)
  6. Send the email

Does anyone else have this problem?

Does Big Sur fix it?

Greetings Big Iron,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities! It seems redirecting mail isn't working as expected with macOS.

Check out the steps in the following article: Reply to, forward, or redirect emails in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

"Redirect emails

  1. In the Mail app  on your Mac, select the message you want to redirect.
  2. Choose Message > Redirect.
  3. Address the message, then click the Send button .
  4. The recipient sees only the address of the original sender, and the recipient’s reply goes only to the original sender. You can’t redirect messages for an Exchange account."

If those steps aren't working as expected, see if the issue is system-wide with your Mac, by testing with a different macOS user account:

Kind regards.
