Apple watch update 9/2020

I did the apple watch update last night to WatchOS 7.0 and now my activity no longer registers. The screen of my watch just keeps saying loading now since i tried reseting/turning it off twice. This also causes my watches battery to deplete fast through the day. Can anyone please help me with this? Thank you.

Hi hpowell0577,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Apple Support Communities. It looks like your Activity isn't loading properly after you updated to watchOS 7.

We're glad to help with this.

We recommend performing the following steps to get this working again.

  1. Unpair your Apple Watch from your iPhone. To do that, open the Watch app on your iPhone. Go to the My Watch tab and tap All Watches. Tap the "i" icon next to the watch that you want to unpair. Tap Unpair Apple Watch.
  2. On your iPhone, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud. Turn Health on if it isn't already on. Tap Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup and wait for the data to back up.
  3. Verify that it has backed up by going to the Health app on the iPhone and tap Profile on the top right. At the very bottom of that screen, it should say: "Health data was last backed up at . . ." If the time listed isn't recent, wait for the backup to complete.
  4. Once you have a recent backup of the data, erase the iPhone. Go to Settings > General > Reset. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
  5. On the the Apple Watch, go to Settings > General > Reset. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
  6. When the iPhone restarts, choose the option to Restore from iCloud Backup.
  7. Once the iPhone has been restored, you can then restore the Apple Watch from the backup: On the iPhone, open the Watch app and tap Start pairing. Once the Apple Watch has paired, tap Restore from Backup, and choose the most recent backup to restore.

Take Care.

There seems to be a problem with WatchOS7 update 01. I’ve had a couple of calls with Apple Support who tell me they are aware of a problem where Activity data is not accurately transferred to the Health App. So if I’ve undertaken two exercises of just over 3 miles each, this only shows 2.3 miles with a duration of about 11 mins!!!! They talked me through most of the above but that did not work. I was then told that its a software problem which will probably be fixed in a new software update. Not much consolation so I am returning my iWatch 6 and will look for an alternative (like Withings) or wait 6 months to see if it gets fixed. Moral, don't buy a new Apple product on release. Wait a few months!!!
