Messages not staying pinned in iOS 14 on iPhone

I just got a new 12 pro max and 14.4 iOS now. Since I had it I have some problem with message which I can read it but just a few second later the message is disappeared. This happened only in certain people.

I've had three Messages pinned since we first could pin, two are individuals, one is a family group of 5. Twice they have disappeared on me, all three pins there this morning, gone by afternoon. Force quit app and restarting phone doesn't bring them back, have to add manually. This first occurred for me on 14.3 and this second time it happened I'm on 14.4 which is the current version, so 14.0.1 didn't fix the issue.

The same happens to me. I have three group messages, and two of them disappear. I have come to the conclusion this happens for one or two reasons. 1. Someone drops out of the group and now it isn’t the original group you pinned; therefore, it unpins. 2. One or more persons in the group does not have an iPhone. My group text that never unpins all have iPhones. The two that do unpin, some of the participants do not have an iPhone. I haven’t asked if the close the text to know if that the issue.

Ahh that makes some sense there. Group texts seem to be coming up as a common denominator. I can answer your number 2. point, as the only group I have pinned has either been a group of 4 others all on iOS devices or a group pin of 2 others all others on iOS devices. Someone dropping from the group is a likelihood, but now I'm unsure on that as well because both groups I mention above are still in my history, list of Messages as group messages with all the members. If they left the group wouldn't that person be missing on what I'm seeing as the group and have a notification in the thread that the person left?

I like having a family group pinned at the top, I only use three pins to keep it on one row on my iPhone X. Doesn't take too long to re-add the three but still an odd bug that is related to group messages some how.

Miraculously, I have found that since I updated to 14.4 this disappearing pins issue has gone away, and I can now have pinned groups made up of iOS and Android users-- at least they've stuck for the past several weeks.

Not me. I used to have a problem with a group of about 8 people, mixed Android and iPhone users. But now I have a problem with a group of 2 iPhone users. Once in a while it will just disappear but I can repin it. No rhyme or reason why it will disappear

Just realized that deleting another message thread, any message thread at all, makes the missing pinned conversations reappear in the top part of the app, at least for me.

I'd submit feedback to Apple. The more people who report a specific problem, the more likely they are to pay attention to it.

No, this group for me is not an imessage group, however I have 1 person pinned that isn't imessage and they are still there. All of my pins here are individual chats. Can't keep my group

Is everyone in the group message that comes unpinned using iMessage?

Consistently unpins one group. Others seem to stay ok. Both groups contain a mix of Android and apple users.

It seems on my iPhone that the only group that will not stay pinned is one with both iMessage and Android users, however a single pinned conversation with an Android user stays pinned.
