Messages not staying pinned in iOS 14 on iPhone

My software is up to dat 14.2. My pins have been disappearing from day one. Sometimes they go back up there and sometimes they don’t. I’ve tried to re pin, but it’s not working either. It’s really annoying

This is a problem! Apple needs to fix this so that we can pin messages that contain Android users. AND, they need to make it so that we can name groups with Android users in them. Equal rights for our Android contacts!

It is only a temporary fix... but you can get the original conversation to pin again by pinning and unpinning a different conversation. Then your original conversation will pin again.

But, it will continue to unpin itself again and again until Apple fixes this.

Interesting. I actually have 9 pins (the max) only one of which is a mix of android and iphone users. So... when I do those steps, I am macing it out.

Can you try adding pins until you are maxed out (9 total) and then removing them all (except the two you want to keep), then see if your problem conversation will pin again?

I hadn’t realized 14.3 was out. I’m not updating as I finally got six pins right now. One disappears and comes back, but it’s currently there. Not chancing it and won’t update. Apple really needs to fix this.

So here's what I wonder: is this issue even on Apple's radar to fix? I submitted a bug report, at least I think I did, but beyond our little echo chamber here, is there a way to find out if anything is going to be done, ever? Or is this inaction Apple's way to try to get us to tell all our Android-using buddies to leave their platform of choice, because pinned text groups that they are members of don't stick in our iOs texting app?

Pay attention is not enough obviously. Problem is here since iOS 14 was released and no fix since then. I love my iPhone and not going to switch to anything else but this little bugs makes so big inconveniences. iOS 14 is not stable in general. Sad

I have this same issue, a combination of individual & group messages. For individual pins, I am able to pin both iMessage & non-iMessage users. However, for group messages, I am only able to pin those that are all iMessage users. If a group has some non-iMessage users (e.g., Android), I notice that I am not able to pin those group messages.

Two of my 6 pins just disappeared this morning. When I do a search for them they don’t even show up in the list. The really weird thing is that I figured out that one of the missing pins now shows up as someone else, and that someone else’s messages still come through too under their own name and picture. Sometimes I can tell by context who is sending the message but not always. I’ve power cycled my phone a couple of times. I’ve also closed all of my open apps but this is driving me crazy! Any suggestions would most welcome.

I have had this issue pop up recently as well. It worked great for a few months and then all of a sudden today 1 of my 6 pins disappeared... I have a mix of individual and group texts, the one that always disappears is a group with both iMessage and android. All others are just iMessage. I have re-pinned the text 3-4x but it just disappears later. Very frustrating!!

I am having the same problem here. Tends to be the group messages that are pinned that disappear for me. Also I can’t pin a conversation by sliding the message to the right and touching the pin icon. Only by editing the pins can I add one. I am on iPhone 12 Pro Max. iOS 14.3

I’m still having the same issue! It comes and goes with each reboot. Today it took three reboots to get it back. To make it worse when you think unpinning it and will put the pals back good luck. Each time you try to delete the group and start over it keeps asking if you want to delete no matter how many times. Why is 14.3.1 not out yet!!!

The problem seemed fixed for me with 14.3. Updated to the 14.4 RC today and it’s back now - group chats unpinning, splitting into two etc. I don’t think they even understand what’s causing this. 12 Pro Max on Verizon.

i had powered my phone off today and when I turned it back on three out of my six pined people were gone and the whole conversation was deleted so as people were saying update it so I did and it and it’s still gone Someone help

Unfortunately I don’t think there is any way any of us can tell you how to have the conversations stay pinned because we are having the same issues. But I suspect if you start a new text to some of the people whose streams have disappeared you might find that they reappear even if their pins themselves will not remain in place.
