Messages not staying pinned in iOS 14 on iPhone

I had 3 group messages and 6 individual messages pinned. At a random time, 1 of the group messages and 3 of the individual messages unpin. I am left with the same 3 individual messages and 2 group messages pinned.

Software update 14.0.1 is already installed and has not fixed this issue.

I am going to unpin all messages, restart my phone, and reattempt pinning all messages.

If anyone else has a solution, I would greatly appreciate it!

What does that mean, “Download everything from iCloud”? What’s “everything”? I have a PC, which does not have a messaging app that syncs with my iPhone. Honestly that sounds like nonsense, and any feature that requires such a convoluted fix is buggy to begin with.

Anyway, I am curious to see if this turns out to be a permanent fix. Somehow I doubt it, but I'd love to be wrong.

I was not happy with the response, they insisted it had to be done from a computer because doing it there is safer. I said basically you expect me to go and buy a computer so I can do this and why does your updates always cause us to wipe our phones. No response back on that one. They also didn’t see that this was an issue with too many people.

I agree, they act like you are the only one with this issue. I had an appointment today at an Apple store, they were going to reset my phone and download everything back from iCloud. I canceled it because it’s ridiculous to have to try to fix the problem by resetting everything and re-downloading. I just hope they come up with a fix quickly. I like this feature.

I saw that it wasn’t listen so fingers crossed. Since I update I’ve had my 9 conversations pinned from both iPhone and Android users and it is still there like 14 hours later which is the longest they have ever stayed out for me.

Mine was staying pinned until last night. I updated my phone, still won’t stay pinned. It’s a group chat, and when I hold down the convo, it still says “unpin” and even when I click that, and try again, it won’t unpin either for me to pin it back.

I love the feature; I have 3 group messages and 5 individual ones pinned. One of the group messages (the same one) keeps disappearing. My phone is an iPhone XS Max and the software is at iOS 14.1. This update did not help with my issue.

This literally just started happening to me just earlier. I love this feature! Makes things easier when texting so I don’t have to go through tons of messages to get to that on person.

Any recommendations? How many can be pinned at one time?

I have updated to iOS 14.2 and Big Sur on my MacBook pro. All my pinned messages stay pinned on Big Sur which is great. And at first iOS 14.2 seemed to be working great, all of them staying pinned. But now for the last couple of days, the one pinned group message with an Android user has started to disappear again. Before I could just delete a random text, like ones you get with security codes, and the disappearing pinned group would come back. Now that doesn't work. I have to edit pins and pin it again several times a day.

I realize that Apple and Android are competitors and I understand why Apple may not LIKE Android, but why does Apple have to take that out on all of US--the iPhone customers that have made Apple who they are today (financially speaking). We can't help it if some of our contacts are not perfect and don't use Apple. But Apple refuses to play ball with Android users.

This is happening to me. I have IOS 14.2

I have 9 messages pinned, 2 group messages and 7 individuals. Every time I close my Messaging app and reopen it back up, one of the group messages is unpinned! It's always the same one. Sometimes when I go to add it back in, when I click "Done" it will disappear again. I reset my phone, which did not help. It just started happening now and I have had ios 14.2 for a little while now.

My software is up to dat 14.2. My pins have been disappearing from day one. Sometimes they go back up there and sometimes they don’t. I’ve tried to re pin, but it’s not working either. It’s really annoying

I hadn’t realized 14.3 was out. I’m not updating as I finally got six pins right now. One disappears and comes back, but it’s currently there. Not chancing it and won’t update. Apple really needs to fix this.

So here's what I wonder: is this issue even on Apple's radar to fix? I submitted a bug report, at least I think I did, but beyond our little echo chamber here, is there a way to find out if anything is going to be done, ever? Or is this inaction Apple's way to try to get us to tell all our Android-using buddies to leave their platform of choice, because pinned text groups that they are members of don't stick in our iOs texting app?
