Bad WiFi after iOS 14 update

After the iOS 14 update my WiFi speed is very slow, on my other phone with iOS 13 it is 20 times faster also the signal from the provider is bad compared with my iOS 13 device. Besides that the battery is draining very fast. The health app does not work anymore. The widgets can be opened while the phone is locked. The phone is getting very hot. Until now i am not happy with iOS 14. I tried turning the phone off and on but it does not help. (iPhone 11 pro max)

After hours of resets and reading, I came across a suggestion in a community forum which seems to make it work. When I connect to my home routers the default DNS is set to auto. After selecting Manual, and deleting the router gateway dns, and adding 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (Google dns severs), the WiFi performed properly. Go to settings/WiFi select i on the right of the WiFi and scroll down to DNS.

I had the exact same issue and consumed lots of time and energy with this, and finally solved it on my end.

I configured a TP-Link WiFi 6 router and 10+ devices at home.

Only iOS/iPadOS 14 devices experienced slow WiFi, other devices like Windows, Mac and Android had no issues.

I followed all the recommendation from the internet - Reset network settings, configure DNS, disable location service of WiFi, reset iPhone, and etc. Only re-writing the OS solved the issue temporarily.

I talked to the Apple Support representative. The person also recommended to talk to the TP-Link support.

But I doubt the problem is more likely on the iOS 14?

I spent some time on reviewing the home router configuration before I call the TP-Link support.

I switched off the Smart Connect which is allowing the same SSID name for both 2.4G and 5G bands.

I gave another name to the 5G band, tried from each band but no luck.

Also, no change with disabling/enabling OFDMA and MIMO.

For my case, disabling Airtime Fairness (ATF) from the router did the trick.

Now these problematic iOS/iPadOS 14 devices WiFi performance is as good as other devices.

Hope this is the final update. My previous attempts were helpless and I didn't expect it is solved by using another channel.

This time, I switched back those previous options. And disabled Auto channel, set a channel without the 36.

I also inspected the radio channel, no other SSIDs are on the channel 36 near my home.

Not sure if other channels are impacting or not, I am tired enough looking into this problem.

This is ridiculous because there were no issues with the specific channel in other devices and previous iOS.

Only the iOS & iPadOS 14 devices are having the problem!

I 'm too having this issue and apple support response is that it is an isp issue not the software or hardware, I'm using an iPhone 12 pro mix and 10xs and they are both experiencing the same slow test results on ookla speed test my isp has issue me a AX enabled gateway and only have three devices connected to wifi two on five Ghz one 2Ghz and I'm on my isp gig speed tier plan and I'm getting those speeds on ethernet since prior to updating to iOS 14.4 I was getting download result on wifi of over 700 Mbps and it's 132 Mbps both test were performed on Ookla speed iOS app from the same servers. What gives Apple

Edit: the gateway seats six feet in the air with no obstructions in a four hundred square foot space. NetSpot reports signal at 48dbm while 2.4 Ghz reports 28dbm

in Our household there are 8 apple devices. Those that have iOS 12 or 13 have good WiFi performance. I have tried all versions of iOS 14 on an iPhone XR and a 6s and WiFi performance is unusable. On the same iOS 14 devices, LTE / 4G data is as fast as ever and much better than my 50mbit home WiFi. I have tried resetting network settings, turning off private mode and reinstalling iOS with no improvement. What is going on?

I am experiencing similar issues other than the phone getting hot and basically everything on my iPhone 11 Pro (not max) is working slower and worse after the update. I've tried re-starting the phone, etc. Tested my network and wi-fi with other devices and it is not the network. I have been able to fix some issues by deleting and re-installing the app that is acting funny, but I don't have time to delete and re-install every single app on my phone. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be appreciated. Thanks!

iPad to find out what was wrong before the day before I update to iOS 14 I played among us throughout the day no issues no server disconnection the day after I updated I can’t load web pages in less than 4 seconds , among us is a 20% chance of working before being kicked for no ping response , cod mobile says I’m not even connected to WiFi , I tried my work and home WiFi and it’s the same issue , speed test said I went from 100mb/s down to 5mb/s down after the update , this kind of drop is insane How has no one fixed this yet and we’re already on IOS 14.2

My WiFi speed has nosedived since I upgraded to 14.0.1 - on all 4 of my Apple devices. Even my wired internet speed on my Mac has nosedived. Often download speeds <0.1 mps. My husband’s android phone and Dell laptop are doing just fine, so it’s definitely a device issue. I suspect that those in urban areas with good internet transmission aren’t too upset if they decline from say 90 mps to 60 mps, but those of us in more remote areas need all the connectivity speed we can get. Particularly as we are zooming from home. This is a disaster and the timing couldn’t be worse.

I was facing same issue and I tried several work arounds mentioned in this and on other threads but none worked. Then I tried to reset network settings by going into:

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

After that my iPhone restarted, I joined Wifi network and Wifi speed restored to optimal as it used to be. I hope that this will work for all of you too :)
