iMessage Typing Lag

Is anyone currently experiencing lag when typing within iMessage? It seems to happen every time I start typing a new message. Only occurs with the first ~3 letters and, once the lag catches up and those letters are typed, it returns to normal. I’m not sure if this is specific to me or possibly something associated with the new iOS 14 update.

I spoke to an apple tech today. I explained to him about the issue with my Iphone 8 and the typing lag is still there on my Iphone 12. He told me it is a bug that transferred over when I transferred over my data from one phone to the next.

The FIX is to upload photos/contacts/messages to Icloud, do a factory reset, setup as a new phone and then download photos/contacts from iCloud, re download apps. Unfortunately that is the only solution they have found that works. Hope this helps!

Slow respond when typing in iMessage occurs due to releasing of a new iOS when a new model of iPhone is introduced. This happens after 2-3 models later compare to the model you are using.

That happened to me when having iPhone 3 when iPhone 5 was released. When having iPhone 5 it happened again when iPhone 7 was released. Now I got iPhone 7 it happens again when iPhone 12 is released.

It seems to be a built in function in the software, to press the system so it makes your phone feeling “old and lazy” with the goal making you wanna buy a new model even if there is no other problem with your phone.

i guess the workaround is to stop update iOS on your previous iPhone when the second model after the previous is going to be released.

Complicated. In general, I think:

  1. programmers and engineers are always rushed to get things to production, ready or not.
  2. Things are also planned to last only so long.
  3. Planned and forced obsolescence is a thing.
  4. Bugs are a thing, intentional or not, so are “Easter Eggs”.
  5. My iPhone 6s a several years ago was working just enough one day to barely get a new phone before it died completely, saw a class action notice for battery issue and power downgrade in IOS. $20 compensation if responded too lol!
  6. this slow degradation seems to happen after every new phone comes out.
  7. the “remedy” for the battery degradation issue in 6s was supposedly having the iOS degrade performance to compensate for battery battery wear.
  8. Some call this type of behavior predatory and unfair business practice, other side of argument is to keep your phone and information more secure blah blah blah etc etc etc
  9. my bet is that ALL iOS VERSIONS contains time delay code based on conditions, updates, times, “Easter Eggs” that occurs when this, this and this are met. you have problems so you try an update to fix thus furthering things lol. Forced.
  10. this is speculation.
  11. As iOS or operating systems in general sprawl and grow with more features and functionality, they outgrow their “shell” so to speak and slow down.
  12. Don’t get me started on privacy - (yes).
  13. I told you it was complicated.
  14. I’m a nobody, just my observations..and opinion.
  15. i will still buy an apple, because they are the best when they work.

you dont "own" your phone even though you paid for it.

your probably locked into it also because of data kept in cloud or on phone too.

cloud is alot of storage capability these days to just download if youvdont store local on your computer in a separate file.

i am absolutely certain though that android has its own issues to, like being more vulnerable to virus/malware etc . you pay for the convienences of apple and the alledgedly more secure platform at a cost.

as you xan prob tell i hsve alot of typos, i wrnt to settings under keyboard and disabled just about every add on feature, kinda sucks but j think speed increased.

it is what it is. phones are essential this day and age as is internet, especially now. forced upgrades are a thing, so no, probably cant not upgrade , actually i think things will run worse eventually until you do upgrade. the world is ran by major corps like apple and MS, google. etc.

there is slways linux based operating systems in computers but those have thier issues too, he who writes the code for the back door in the kernal rules the world as well as he who engineeers the lithography backdoors etched in the chips tgat run the code, intel, amd etc..

basicalky gotta pay to play. sucks i know, pick your "poison.. apple " lol

jyst figure you will be buying a new spple every 2-3 years.

you can try adjusting diffferent settibgs too or get a battery installed by a spple genius bar - batteries are hard embedded with serial codes now tgat generate errors if done by anyone else.

the battery was apparently the issue in prior phones, like$60.

working in automotive industry , this type of thing is obvios, you see same failure time and time again, common parts on dhelf in stock.

try the new battery or keyboard setting, i was going too have battery done at apple so embedded hardware coding doesnt phuck phone up or i dont lol.

maybe reset phone , operating systems do corrupt, look at wi dows machines , theyveven have a name for it in IT, think its called "patch tuesday" ?

i fix windiws at cmd line promp with admin priv with : sfc /scannow

it finds and fixes errors all the time.

problem is, this type of behavior is everywhere and is easily dismissable by companies because coukd be something else but there really is nothing you csn do if embrdded code tells your os to slowly start bugging out to make you get a new one eventually, because yotr life is on your current phone so hard to migrate platforms with all yoyr passwirds and puctures and apps etc, so you get a new one after finally succuming snd you know what, your probably happy again until about a year later when you see the pattern repeat, and your like, im just not going to update, but your phone gets buggier, so you update hoping to fix some issues and you get new features too, so you just keep playing this psychokogical game until you give in snd get the newest iphone which is promptly outdated a month later with a new iphone tgat just came out lol!!

lol

iPhucked! lol

just plan on saving for one snd trade in when price is high. idk. try the battery and genius bar?

i do know car compsnies dknt nessesariky nake moneyvselling cars, they make it on the parts snd service..

but then, thibgs are ysing the throw away model mentality , you csnt hardly fix this stuff any more cause of cost. cheeper to buy new sometimes.

i have no idea either but this not having autobcorrect suchs even thiugh i curse at auto correct every day for wtong words.

trade in?

goid luck man!
