Surround Sound / 5.1 Broken in Netflix on tvOS 14?

Same problem for me on Apple TV HD. It was working fine last night, but tonight it’s 2.1 in Netflix while other apps are working normally.

I’m not happy about this, but at least it’s a known issue and not related to the new preamp I just installed on Tuesday. I was getting worried that I had a bigger problem.

Edit: Whoops, 2.0. It’s the subwoofer indicator that’s lit on the processor when in stereo mode, not the LFE.

Deleting and re-installing Netflix didn’t do the trick for me. Even series like Big Bang Theory don’t show 5.1 symbol whereas it does when playing netflix on WebOs app.

also this issue is not isolated to Netflix only on the ATV 4k. Every movie in my itunes purchased library that should output ATMOS is only giving me 5.1

Same here, updated yesterday to iOS 14 and now I can see 5.1 and atmos on Netflix but when i play these titles only stereo sound coming. Very disappointing.

Other apps like apple TV, prime video plays in 5.1 and atmos. But only Netflix not playing in 5.1 and atmos.

Any idea when will it be resolved

Nope. Everything worked perfectly weeks ago.

in ituned movies it shows atmos yes (compared to netflix) but when looking at the signal that sonos is receiving it’s only 5.1 dd. Whereas it showed atmos in the past. Only the atv isn’t passing the atmos signal anymore and previously it had no issues with that.

I am seeing the issue as well. It looks like the Netflix app had recent update (Monday). That may be the issue rather than the Apple TV.

I have the exact same issue. Apple TV 4K.

I reproduced the problem with tvOS 13.

This is not due to tvOS 14.

This is due to last Netflix update.

Atmos is also broken on itunes purchased movies. But they at least put out 5.1 instead of stereo.

Delete and re-add worked for me, thank you.

Just updated Netflix and problem solved.

New update just arrived for Netflix on apple TV 4k

Saw the update on netflix app. However still only gives me 5.1 and no atmos. (Netflix, disney plus and itunes movies). On the webos apps of these i get atmos without any issue.

My purchased movies thru Apple have Dolby Atmos. Must be your settings. But Netflix just like everyone doesn’t have Dolby Atmos

Netflix does have Atmos via AppleTV box. Roku does npt have Atmos on Netflix

I deleted the Netflix app and downloaded it again. works now for me. Dolby Atmos comes out on my JBL 9.1 soundbar. Now waiting on google to fix 4K for YouTube

Maybe try pass through? I’ve seen people say it helps them fix their issues with LG CX with their external speaker system for Dolby Atmos
