CarPlay - changing the maps app in the dashboard

I'm trying to figure out how to change the maps app that shows up in the dashboard of CarPlay. It was always Apple Maps, then I updated to iOS 14 and now somehow it seems to have changed to Google Maps. I did not make any changes so not sure how that change happened. Ideally I would like WAZE there but I have no idea how to go about it. Does anyone know where this setting is? Thank you.

Hello acon234,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. We see from your message you'd like some assistance changing what app is showing for maps from the CarPlay Dashboard.

You can customize CarPlay's home screen once you have paired it with your car. Go to Settings > General > Car Play > My Car > Customize. On this screen you can add, remove, and organize the apps which show on the Home Screen. You'll see this and more information under, "Arrange your CarPlay apps," from this article: Use CarPlay with your iPhone

You can do more customization with Settings in CarPlay. This article will tell you which settings you will find when you have your iPhone connected to your car and access Settings from the CarPlay Dashboard: Change settings in CarPlay

All the best.
