Microphone not working after update

This issue, at least with respect to the iPhone 7, isn't related to iOS 14. The audio IC on your iPhone is failing and is the cause of the issues you're having with the microphone. This is unfortunately, not an issue that Apple offers to repair, and you will need to either find a third party repair shop that can do board level repair, or invest in a new phone.

This should be fixed with he new update IOS 14.2

Upgrading 14.2 fixed my problem

I’ve not had a working mic on my iPad since iOS 14.2 and it’s still not working from iOS 14.3 .... It’s a software glitch that apple aren't fixing .. not even mentioning it but hopefully will be back working on iOS 14.4 but still no mention .. luckily my device has warranty so I’m sending mine in to be fixed by apple ... glad I’m not the only one with this broken mic issue .. let’s just find a fix soon driving me crazy not being able to chat to family

Yes!! Same for me too. Glad to see the flashlight and camera going again but it’s a phone without the actually talking capability at the moment! I really need my mic

Same problem. After 14.0.1 update, the microphone stopped working and the speaker doesn't work for calls or Pandora. Can't even use bluetooth for calls on the phone app but can sometimes if I use TextNow.

I have a 7 Plus and my microphone stopped working after installing the 14.2 software update. I cannot make or receive calls unless I am using a Bluetooth headset or Bluetooth in my car. All apps that use the microphone no longer are working as well. This is extremely frustrating as I use my phone for work purposes while working remotely from home.

Sadly no. I spoke to another 2nd level tech that never called me back. That’s twice now. I’ve always heard that apple was premium brand but that’s far from the experience I got. I’m still confident it’s software related and was never able to get a version of IOS 13. Not sure it’s possible.

So in short I’m tired of waiting. Stand behind your productZ. If apple is reading this I can’t wait for a survey!!!!!!

when I downloaded iOS 14 .1 my mic was working fine on iPad as I did a video chat on the 12th October but since having iOS 14.2 my mic is not working

I can open the camera and do a video using back camera and mic works but when doing a selfie video the mic doesn’t work ..also the voice memo app doesn’t pick me up and apps that use the mic like messenger now doesn’t working in video calling

the speaker works as can hear the caller just can’t hear me back

and I’ve tried a bluetooth speaker which has a built in mic and still doesn’t pick up the mic

I’ve spoken to Apple support last week and they said to send it in to see what’s wrong however I didn’t want to send it in and end up and a bill for something that might work right after the next update plus would never get the same iPad back as they just give a refurbished copy not the same one .......Apple needs to fix this error as i know now that it’s not just me it must be a glitch ......hope this is fixed next months update

Same thing here. It also seems that my service doesn’t connect 90% of the time now. Ive put my sim card into my old phone and service is fine but its only on my 7 that things got screwed over.

My ticket has been escalated to apple engineering. Im sure its something with the software. When I get a call back I will update you all. Sucks.
