I have an iphone XR and just recently updated my phone to ios 14. However, now my voice memos app will not record and will not let me play back any previous recordings. Most of the time when I click on it it will freeze after I try to record or play back something. I want to fix it without losing my files.

So what is Apple doing about this problem? I also have a frozen voice-memos app, and have tried Offfloading and Reinstalling to no avail. My software level is updated well past 14.01. Are all my song and tune ideas now lost to me?
I’m having the same problem. Have years of recordings. Really hoping this gets resolved! Offloading/reloading and restarting my phone have done nothing. I have a iPhone XS Max with iOS 14.06. So frustrating
Same problem it happened yesterday with my Iphone SE 2020 - IOS 14.6-
It just freezes neither can it playback previous recording not can it start recording.. tried reinstalling but the problem stayed
Tried different variations: powering off/on…. uninstalling/reinstalling…. uninstalling/then powering off/on and then reinstalling. No joy. Spent a half hour with tech support. No joy. Suggested resolution: do a full OS reset and OS reinstall. No thanks.

Thanks for your reply. It didn’t work for me. I notice now even when you try to forward a audio message from iMessages it’s just a blank message. Definitely a bug. Thanks again.

I wish I could say that. I've been dealing with this for a couple years now. I've given up. I just got a third party app to record with when I have to.
