Bluetooth speaker won't play music from Mac

JBL Charge 3 bluetooth speaker says it's connected to my 2011 Mac desktop but isn't playing through it! It's worked for months, so not sure why. I've tried disconnecting/reconnecting it, forget this device then find device again, turn bluetooth on and off etc etc, but can't seem to get it to work. Any thoughts? Ta
