Touchscreen acting strange after iOS 14 update

I have an iPhone XS Max and I’ve just updated the phone to iOS 14.

Areas of the screen becomes unresponsive many times during the day. Locking the screen and unlocking it again seems to temporarily fix the issue. Removed the screen protector, and restarting the phone doesn’t seem to fix the issue. Updated to iOS 14.1 and the issue remains to emerge every once in a while during the day making it difficult to operate, navigate and especially type on the phone.

I found a fix that might work for others with this issue (especially if typing is the problem). Go into your keyboard settings (settings-general-keyboard) and disable the slide to type function. After disabling that function, my keyboard is no longer the bane of my existence.

This issue had been driving me insane since it makes the phone almost unusable. Hopefully it stays fixed and Apple resolved the issue WHICH IS CLEARLY A SOFTWARE PROBLEM!!!

Guys

Just a quick update, I took my phone to an appointment with Apple even though I’m not enrolled with AppleCare+ and I’ve explained it all. I’ve shown them that I started this forum discussion and told them all about the identical symptoms we are sharing like the ghost touches and the keyboard irresponsiveness on the right side of the screen like typing p or zero etc... The worker there believed me and was actually on the verge of replacing my phone for me as I’ve told him that many people are awaiting my response on the thread, however, unfortunately for me when he came back with the new phone he told me that my phone has traces of water damage inside.

I’ve explained to him that my phone had a simple water spill incident but that was OVER A YEAR AGO and that my phone was completely working great without issues until I updated to iOS 14 and that in case it was true that the culprit was the water incident that occurred over a year ago then how come WE ARE ALL FACING THE SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS around the world and COINCIDENTALLY after the iOS 14 update?! His response was “I believe you.. I know it’s true but I’m sorry since there is water damage we cannot replace your phone for free.. unless you pay..”

Perhaps a tech social media account must have a look at this thread and get a shout out in order for us to grab their attention because if not, then Apple is never paying attention to us few ripped off clients.

, then please anyone can guide us through the steps of how to Transition from Apple to Android devices quickly? Data Transportation steps and all. Perhaps this is the solution to this thread.

2.5 days since my update to 14.3. What were totally destructive symptoms between touchscreen and kyboard are no longer evident in any way I can see. I will continue monitoring it and write back after a week. A small note: 1) usually when an update to ios fixes a problem, those that no longer have the problem often don’t bother to let others know it went away and 2) i’m highly convinced that this problem occurs with applications that were not upgraded for 14.x. and that the recent update to 14.3 simply addressed some of the issues such that no update was required - at least for some apps. Other less well-behaved apps are probably still malfunctioning - so systematically closing apps one at a time followed by testing the results might help those experiencing problems under 14.3. identify the culprit app.

Dear everyone,

I’ve started this discussion since September 2020 and this is a summary of the thread so far.

Clearly there wasn’t any solution to this issue. I have stopped using my XS Max which was working perfectly fine before the iOS 14 update and haven’t looked back since.

Many people including myself came up with temporary fixes but none of which seemed to work for everyone and certainly did not permanently fix the issues.

Unfortunately and to be frank, Apple doesn’t seem to pay any attention to this thread or the consumers experiencing these symptoms on their phone. Apple are still falsely claiming that this is a hardware issue for everyone in this thread that has been to their stores, even though these issues started for everyone in this thread CLEARLY and COINCIDENTALLY after the iOS 14 update and even though some of you guys have new phones with no particular damage incidents. You can check the news worldwide and you’ll notice that it is not a matter of consumer satisfaction issue for them. Such a shame.

However, only advantage people got out of this thread is that iPhone X users only can replace their phones if they are experiencing this issue due to the fact that an iPhone X Replacement program was launched in the past year because of a grand scale issue across iPhone X users worldwide.

Deepest apologies but this is a summary of this thread so far.
