Strange marks above hinges on 2019 13 Inch MacBook Pro Lid

In the last couple of months twin identical indentations have appeared above where the hinges are on the lid of my 13 inch MacBook Pro.

I took it to the Genius Bar and was advised that this was my fault as I had been using my MacBook Pro with the screen "Too far back," and that this was just "What happens" when you misuse it in this way and that I would need to pay 600 euros to get it repaired.

To me this is absurd, I have been very careful with my MacBook Pro, and the idea that this was caused by the screen being "too far back" seems ridiculous given the fact that a screen can only go so far back before you cant move it any further back without obviously breaking it. Any point that you move the screen to before having to push it so far back that it breaks could be considered a natural position (I've been using it with the screen at around a 90 degree angle, I guess like most people) and the design of the device should be able to support the screen being in a natural position.

As it is not written anywhere in the Apple literature that the MacBook screens can only open a certain amount of their normal capacity before they are likely to become damaged, and it is clearly not the first time this has happened as the Genius that I spoke to seemed to identify what he believed the problem to be immediately, I think this should be considered a design flaw.

Again, the genius could not tell me what was an ok position to have the screen set to and what was too far, and it is not written anywhere in the official literature about the screens only being safe to open to a certain angle, this is like a refrigerator manufacturer designing fridges that can go up to a setting of 7, but that are likely to become damaged if you go higher than 5. It simply would not be allowed to happen.

I'm curious to hear if anyone else has experienced such a problem.

Thanks

It is a cosmetic issue. It opens and closes ok. Bus obviously on a premium product one doesn't expect such issues. Again, it has been very well looked after, and the idea that it is because I have been watching it with the screen too far back is not a satisfactory explanation. I have sent pictures to the technical support team via email over 2 weeks ago and am still yet to receive an answer.
