iPad Air 2 bootloop after "upgrade" to iOS 14 - DOA since 8/17 resisting many repair attempts

Anyone else have this issue?

Upgraded to iOS 14 - Air 2 (64GB) then went into boot loop - steps taken to correct problems:

Using latest iTunes on my PC, forced restore repeatedly as I tried different things

1). Tried restoring from latest backup - bootloop

2). Tried restoring from previous backup - bootloop

3). Tried restoring from my iPhone X - success but content different than my iPad

4). “Borrowed” my wife’s 5th Gen iPad (32GB) - installed iOS 14 successfully on THAT device.

5). Using the 5th Gen, reset and tried restoring using my latest Air 2 backup - success!

6). Since my Air 2 backup was larger than the 5th Gen capacity, I culled non-essential apps and content to get it to 30GB - then backed up the 5th Gen to iCloud.

7). This morning I tried restoring the Air 2 AGAIN using this “fresh” iCloud backup - AGAIN BOOTLOOPED!

I am at a loss - this device had been working flawlessly under iOS 13 - before is resort to sending it in, thought I would bounce this off anyone who might have encountered the same issue!

My phone is infinitely bootlooping as well after ios14 install. I have been doing a lot of research on this topic, and think I may be discovering something here. I had my screen replaced at ubreakifix roughly 1 month ago. phone worked great after, just a simple cracked screen that was bothering me. After updating to ios14 I immediately began the infinite bootloop. If I mess with the buttons and hold the screen in a certain spot, I can eventually bypass this and the phone turns on. It will work great, no issues at all even for extended periods. Once I lock the screen, it begins to bootloop again.

I brought it to the genius bar, who were unable to find any issue with the phone (and they cracked it open for me) other than noting that the screen turning on was causing a panic-full analytic error. I then went over to ubreakifix, who were at a loss for words. today, ubreakifix called. another customer had come in, with an iphone 11 (also had a screen replaced recently). They went to install the new ios14 and have begun bootlooping infinitely just like me.

Is it possible that the new ios14 is searching for aftermarket repairs/parts and once identified, causing the phone to panic and crash? I was told by apple support that my only option was to pay them for a repair, as I am out of warranty and "am not allowed to go back to ios13".

Have we lost our right to repair? I am extremely upset with apple right now... so much so that if this is true they have lost a customer for life
