Password manager by Estill Hill

Hello, I'm having problem with this apps after I upgrade to iOS 14. Overtime I want to open the particular password, it freezes. I tried to contact the developer (Estill Hill) but no luck. Anyone having the same problem like me?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, only the developer could have provided a means of exporting or saving the data, or perhaps syncing it to iCloud. If they didn’t there is no way to recover the data stored by the app. This is a security feature of Apple software; app data is “owned” by the app and is not accessible to any other app; not even Apple can access the data stored in an app.

I realize it will be tedious, but pretty much every application and website that uses passwords has a way to reset or recover lost passwords. Also, if you enabled Keychain in iOS your passwords will be saved in it. To check you can go to Settings/Passwords on your phone.

I had the same problem. I just solved it. This may help but you need to do this on a device which is not updated to the newest IOS.

I went the the settings and backed up the passwords to Dropbox (not sure if it's the same for iCloud etc).

Then I went to a device which wasn't updated and reinstalled the passcodes app. I went into the settings and went to "restore purchase" and downloaded the file from Dropbox. All my password were restored.

now I'll be moving everything to another app (probably Dropbox version)

hope this works for you.

Upgrade your IOS to 14.2 and it will work fine. However, this has been a ‘heads up’ for me as to whether I’m prepared to trust a third party app developer with my password details. I know the data is only kept on the phone - but what if a problem does happen that can’t be resolved this easily??!! Hope your upgrade works for you.

I've sent an email to the developer and I'm waiting for a reply but I'm not hopeful as I've seen elsewhere that others have tried unsuccessfully to contact the developer. The whole idea of a Password Manager is to store passwords safely. This problem isn't resolved by backing up data, as you need the app to read the data. I won't be able to read any of my passwords if Estill Hill don't update their app - which they haven't done for four years 🤦‍♂️

Same issue... Tried backing up the database in settings and restoring it but no luck. Able to open notes in the app and able to add new ones but freezes when I try to retrieve any passwords. My son has the same issue as well so it may be something with the recent upgrade. No response from the developer (its been a week).

I was able to open the .sqlite file and see the usernames, comments, and notes but the passwords are encrypted as they should be.

Everyone always tells you to use a password app like its a best practice. It is impossible to determine which ones will continue to be supported through IOS upgrades. This has been more of an "android" experience for me as I've often had issues like this in the Play store. Never on IOS though.. until now.

I am having the same EXACT issue! *following*

The app opens, but once you tap any of the entries it freezes completely. I tried to backup to Dropbox and the .sqlite file is unreadable. I tried backing up to iCloud and I can't find it. Tried backing up using Wifi option to the IP address given and my PC can't open the file either and App Store says the software needed to open that type of file is "not available in this country or region". EEK! I also tried to contact the developer via email and no response. It's fine if it's no longer supported by the new iOs update I can use another app but in order to transfer simply need my data so that I can move on! Thanks.
