Apple Watch not classifying heart rate into resting / sleeping / workout etc.

I have an Apple Watch 1 (watchOS 4.3.2) that correctly tracks my heart rate. The following things have already been enabled for about a month, giving the watch enough time to collect info and hopefully start displaying it:

  1. Heart Rate and Fitness Tracking are enabled
  2. The activity app is enabled
  3. the Watch's passcode, Wrist detection and Unlock with iPhone are enabled

The problem is that the Health app, is not slicing the heart rate date into the different categories available (resting / sleeping / walking, etc). Screenshots attached

I therefore believe that the watch is failing to figure out when im sleeping / walking / resting, as examples

My question is - what settings still need changing so that my Apple Watch figures out which activity im performing?

Thank you in advance
