iOS 14 and iOS 14.0.1 Sound Issues

The Apple rep first had me plug my phone into a pc then update my iTunes software then press the volume up button release then press the volume down button release. Then press the power button and hold it down until the phone rebooted to the Apple.

then I went on iTunes it should have a message pop up that says downloading I’m not sure what but it took about 25-30 minutes it looks like it’s just sitting there but if it says downloading your good. Once completed it asked you to pick a date to restore to I went back to before the update. Once it finished I setup my phone up like new but all my info came back and the sound is working weird thing is the software is the update. Good luck

Did you check the reduce volume settings in Settings - Sound - I was playing with the feature and turned it on to 80db, so every device (head phone, boom speaker, etc) only played a max of 80db. I turned it off and my problems were solved, full blast volume again

Apple Support chat fixed this problem on my iPhone 8. I had the same problem as described above after updating from 13.7 to 14.4.

Force restart your device like so: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

Force Restart fixed my problem and now the device plays music at normal (pre-update) volume.

i Had to plug my phone into my computer. Open iTunes. First Press the sound up button release the the sound down button my phone. Then hold the power button in until a message pops up on the computer screen. It will say downloading or something. The phone goes to the apple symbol. This takes a long time for the download to finish. About 25 minutes for me. Once it finished iTunes said complete my phone was reset I had to put in my info on my phone but all my info came back. I’m having the issue suddenly after iOS 14.1. So I thought it’s software issue and waited for next update but issue still exists after 14.2. Today I tried to clean earpiece with 70% isopropyl alcohol (hand rubs solution) and Q-Tips and it’s working again :) I tried to clean the earpiece with dry toothbrush and Q-tips earlier but didn’t work.

I HAD SAME ISSUE.

HOWEVER, GOT A EASY FIX.

GO TO SETTINGS 👉 SOUND & HAPTICS

👉 HEADPHONE SAFETY 👉 REDUCE LOUD SOUND (TOGGLE IT OFF). NOW ENJOY LOUD AND FULL VOLUME.

HOPE IT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM..

This fixed my problems with weird sound setting behavior. iphone volume, Car Bluetooth, HomePod Mini speaker etc...

Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Headphone Safety. Turn OFF Reduce Loud Sound.

Well when I finished restoring my phone I thought it went back but I check the software it’s still 14.0.1. I believe it took it back but then updated to current one my sound is working now. Like a new update install. Maybe they fixed the update but it isn’t working on top of the one we downloaded so we have to reset. But all my info came back

I ah this issue with my earpiece until this morning, I thought it was an issue since I upgraded to IOS 14 in september. I upgraded to ISO 14.01, 14.1 and finally 14.2 but still had the same issue, the sound was very low through my earpiece. After reading some comments here, I used a Q-tips mixed with alcohol (rub hand solution) and cleaned it.... miracle it's working, I couldn't believe it but I can ear clearly again when someone calls me or let me a vocal message. Go to setting -sound- and make sure Reduce loud sound is on off

well i just fixed mine bought a cleaning kit off amazon

had brushes and sponges loads came out the ear speaker and seems loud

i know crazy

Go to Setting>Sounds>Headphone Safety> Tunoff reduce loud Sounds or you can chage the noise levels as per your requirements.

Went to apple store, first suggestion was to clean out the speaker, it must have collected dust that muted sound because when she did, my phone worked great

Yes, I did. After reading all the responses on here, I powered it off, restarted it and I had the sound bars back - hey, that was an improvement!! Then I powered it off again and it immediately came back on ... ummm. I powered it off again and again it turned itself back on and my sound was back! Hope this makes it easier for someone else.

After having this issue since updating to iOS14, no software update helped. BUT, last night after reading this feed,I got some alcohol and a q-tip and cleaned the ear speaker and lower speakers. A friend called and I could actually hear them! I’ll post an update if this works with other calls. Maybe with all the hand sanitizer etc, it gets clogged? No proof this is a real fix because I only had one call. I’ll be back later to share how this goes with other calls.
