iOS 14 and iOS 14.0.1 Sound Issues

Ever since updating to iOS 14 and iOS 14.0.1, I’ve had sound issues with the iPhone 11 Pro. Sound volume is extremely low for calls on speakerphone, watching YouTube videos, and listening to music.

Has anyone else experienced these issues?

iPhone 6, iOS 12

Since updating to 14.0.1 my volume on phone calls is very low even with volume set to the highest it will go. No problem on speaker or connected to car kit. I would say the volume is half of what it used to be. Tried a reboot, no joy. Tried noise cancellation on and off, no joy.

I really struggle to hear the other person on the call without putting the speaker on 🙄

I just ended up turning off all the volume on my phone and putting it on silent mode because I couldn’t take the randomly loud noises. Getting a text alert at like 10x the volume just kept scaring the crap out of me.. So I “fixed” the problem but it’s annoying as **** to have to have my phone next to me at all times in case I don’t hear it vibrate if I get a call...

Not really. The only other really frustrating problem is while typing text messages it freezes. So I will type like 2 words and it’s frozen and won’t write it and then all of a sudden it types what I wrote. I didn’t explain that well but it’s like a freeze after 1 letter and then it will “catch up”. Just really annoying

This isn’t a “solution” but what I did is just turned all the volume off and put it on silent mode too (switch on the side of the phone). Sound issues are no longer a problem. Presents new problems of not knowing someone calls or texts if I don’t always have my phone right next to me but it did bypass the volume insanity. Hopefully there is an update soon but until then, this is a bandaid solution..

i Had to plug my phone into my computer. Open iTunes. First Press the sound up button release the the sound down button my phone. Then hold the power button in until a message pops up on the computer screen. It will say downloading or something. The phone goes to the apple symbol. This takes a long time for the download to finish. About 25 minutes for me. Once it finished iTunes said complete my phone was reset I had to put in my info on my phone but all my info came back. With the update and sound. I got this from apple

I am experiencing, when on a call, me dropping in and out - similar to loss of signal but signal always good. Everyone I speak to says the same thing. On earbud, loud speaker no such issue. Still experiencing WiFi dropping and I know this is not the network as computer works fine. This is constant. Update iPhone X on 14.01....don’t do it kids. In fact start by not downloading 14.0 that’s where the trouble started.

Well, I posted a comment on Facebook asking if any of my friends had experienced the "low volume" issue on their Iphone following the iOS 14 upgrade, and that Apple Support was no help and that I had tried ALL of the suggestions, short of replacing my phone. The very next phone call I received, everything is working fine now. Coincidence? or just Luck?

No, for me increased the issues. Wifi up and down and not network. People all of sudden cannot hear me on call. (Cleaned the mic as noted above - no difference) when I call someone every first time it fails and I have to call people twice to make a call.

in summary no don’t upgrade to 14.1 as now my phone is just very annoying and having to use landline as a result and computer for internet. Virtually ruined my use of it.
