iOS 14 and iOS 14.0.1 Sound Issues

Ever since updating to iOS 14 and iOS 14.0.1, I’ve had sound issues with the iPhone 11 Pro. Sound volume is extremely low for calls on speakerphone, watching YouTube videos, and listening to music.

Has anyone else experienced these issues?

iPhone 6, iOS 12

The Apple rep first had me plug my phone into a pc then update my iTunes software then press the volume up button release then press the volume down button release. Then press the power button and hold it down until the phone rebooted to the Apple.

then I went on iTunes it should have a message pop up that says downloading I’m not sure what but it took about 25-30 minutes it looks like it’s just sitting there but if it says downloading your good. Once completed it asked you to pick a date to restore to I went back to before the update. Once it finished I setup my phone up like new but all my info came back and the sound is working weird thing is the software is the update. Good luck

I called them today and they did all diagnostics to finally accept that the sound issues are due to softwre upgrade. Though they want customers to spend more time in backing up and retoring. I am filing a case against apple under consumer gurantees act. They do not listen otherwise.

Know your rights and file complaints officially. I have seen them act on them. They will eventually replace the phone.

Though is Apple really Apple anymore. Old hardware - worse than Android phones ? Lost the customer service and quality that once steve jobs differentiated themselves from the rest of the crowd.

😕

update 3: when we got gone after our experience in Leeds we rang apple support and expressed our dismay, whoever we got at the other end of the phone was a godsend. We expressed our rights under consumer laws, (1 year warranty plus 2nd year courtesy fix) he contacted Leeds who in return gave two flimsy responses:

1) our original complaint was noted down as a a microphone issue hence not a speaker issue despite us insisting it was a speaker issue.

2) in their repair they did NOT leave the new speakers in as they did not fix the issue (this contradicts their stance in store where they stated they left the new speakers in)

to is it seemed like Leeds were trying to change the goal posts. The support rep said he would take a return and try another repair or replace the handset free off charge.

we agreed to this.

they repaired the phone and sent it back. It’s all working. So we asked what was the issue? He was vague: “it was moisture damage to a component”

we said: but it’s waterproof? Which component?

he couldn’t tell us.

so in summary: it’s now fixed, we don’t know what they did, it wasn’t what they’re saying (moisture damage because it’s waterproof), and the store in Leeds were simply unhelpful and in fact went out of their way to be unhelpful.

Just an update. I bought a new iPhone (12 mini) and transferred my old phone to the new one and the volume problem still persisted. I called Apple and they had me do a back up of my iPhone to my computer and erase my new phone and then transfer the back up from my computer to phone (as opposed to phone to phone) and the volume problem was still there. I called apple again last week and spoke to a supervisor who said she is aware of this problem and the engineers at Apple are aware of the problem (where sometimes the volume on texts is quiet and other times it is 300x ear piercing loud) and that the problem is bc when you downloaded the new iOS, it may have gotten interrupted somehow (possibly with WiFi signal) and therefore it created a glitch so you can’t transfer your old phone to new phone without the glitch carrying over too. So I had to manually back up pictures and remember what apps I had and hope all the pictures on my phone were in iCloud and we wiped my old phone completely so it is in factory mode. So I redownloaded all my apps (I’m still dealing with picture space from iCloud so I don’t have any pictures on my phone yet..) and the text volume is still inconsistently quiet then extra loud. So at this point I don’t have a clue what to do. Maybe there is an app we all have downloaded as a common denominator that is causing this? It is literally brand new factory phone so I don’t know how I could still have this problem. But she said the engineers are aware of it but apparently there aren’t enough people with this problem or they don’t care about it. So I lost everything from my phone and still have to deal with this. At a certain point Apple needs to jump in this thread and say something. This isn’t in some obscure forum in the internet that they can ignore, we are literally on Apple’s official website..

This is not iOS/iPhone but iPadOS/iPad, so your mileage may vary. Same exact problem, though I think it probably started with iPadOS 14.2 or 14.3. Turns out for video conferencing (FaceTime), the display slider is completely untethered from volume. You must use the volume buttons on the side to adjust volume or you won't be able to hear a thing.

Something to try, anyway. Good luck, guys.
