iOS 14 and iOS 14.0.1 Sound Issues

Since updating to 14.0.1 my volume on phone calls is very low even with volume set to the highest it will go. No problem on speaker or connected to car kit. I would say the volume is half of what it used to be. Tried a reboot, no joy. Tried noise cancellation on and off, no joy.

I really struggle to hear the other person on the call without putting the speaker on 🙄

I’m having this issue too. My volume while in a call has vanished. I’m having to take calls on speaker phone because the handset doesn’t get loud enough for me to hear anymore. This only happened after I updated to the new iOS.

I really hope it’s something they can patch.

I have a different issue, I have both my volume for music and phone ringer on low. If I'm on my phone and I'm getting a call, it starts to ring low but then when I go to open it it's screams at me with a very blasting sound. It's almost like the volume went up to Max and then down to low again by itself. This has never been this way until the update

I have exactly the same problem!! its frustrating, i always use speakerphone because im doing another things and the sound its very very low!! i tried everything, i reinstalled the ios 14 with no luck

I’m seeing same issue on XR after iOS 14 and 14.0.1 update. Apple support is asking the same questions repeatedly with no working solution to this. I’m very disappointed of my iphone, calling is important part of my bussiness and now my phone is unusable. I’m considering buying new android instead of this useless brick.

Took our iPhone X max to Apple store to the Genius Bar. The ran diagnostics. Told us it was hardware issue. £60 for a new set of speakers.

showed them this thread.

they offered 3 options:

1. live with it
2. upgrade
3. wait for a software fix (they acknowledged this thread)
4. repair the hardware failure for £60.

This is nuts. My phone is ridiculously loud when my volume is on lowest ring. It starts low and blasts Max until I either read my text or answer. If this is an issue that cannot be fixed.. they can buy back my iPhone 11 max pro

This has happened to me too, except I randomly have my volume adjust itself as if I’m pressing the buttons but I’m not and sometimes I press them and nothing happens and then out of nowhere it will finally work even on the volume screen, several restarts and I get my sound back and then before you know it sound gone again, please Apple come out with a fix this is goofy... I have almost been late to work due to no alerts working

I’m having the same issue, my volume for alerts, texts, notifications etc. are all over the place; one moment it comes in at the absolute lowest and the next it sounds like it’s on Max volume... sometimes it’s even 50/50 mid-notification starting really loud, going quiet or starting quiet, going loud. It’s incredibly frustrating. I really hope Apple sorts this out ASAP as I haven’t had any issues with my iPhone 11 Pro Max until iOS 14.

Same!!! But mine also alternates between silent and really loud noises. I’ll send a text and it will be a low volume and then the next text will be the highest volume and scare the crap out of me. Any that strange and random volume happens in all platforms (Facebook, email, texts etc)- any place that has sound.

Mine is ok on speakerphone, but the receiver speaker is really low. I have to put my calls on speaker to hear them. I took it to a local Best Buy and the diagnostic wouldn’t even run on the receiver speaker. Apple is sending me a new device, but now it sounds like it won’t matter.

The Apple rep first had me plug my phone into a pc then update my iTunes software then press the volume up button release then press the volume down button release. Then press the power button and hold it down until the phone rebooted to the Apple.

then I went on iTunes it should have a message pop up that says downloading I’m not sure what but it took about 25-30 minutes it looks like it’s just sitting there but if it says downloading your good. Once completed it asked you to pick a date to restore to I went back to before the update. Once it finished I setup my phone up like new but all my info came back and the sound is working weird thing is the software is the update. Good luck

Might want to look on apple for complete directions but you are rolling the phone back to when it was working correctly. Going back before update. I put info above but check the apple site about restore before update tookmplace

Well when I finished restoring my phone I thought it went back but I check the software it’s still 14.0.1. I believe it took it back but then updated to current one my sound is working now. Like a new update install. Maybe they fixed the update but it isn’t working on top of the one we downloaded so we have to reset. But all my info came back

i am having a issue with my Lock sound Volume! Since iOS 14.0.1, sometimes it’s loud and sometimes it’s quiet, like if I play music or watch a video on YouTube then lock the phone it’s loud (Normal) then if I just put the phone down and leave for a few mins the lock sound goes low!.

anyone having this issue?.
