After the update Catalina 10.15.7 have problems with the Internet connection

Hello!

After yesterday's MAC OS Catalina 10.15.7 update, today I had a problem with the WiFI connection.

The connection is excellent, the icon shows that everything is fine, but the Internet periodically disappears. Yesterday, after the update, I did not notice any problems. Today it started, it's impossible to work, after turning off and turning on WiFi, the Internet works for 5-10 minutes and then problems again.

There were no such problems before the update.

I have an Airport Express router (firmware 7.81). Rebooting the router, resetting the settings does not help.

No problem with other devices like PS4, TV, Windows laptops.

Next to the Macbook is an old DELL XPS running Windows - Wi-Fi and internet are great, no problem.

PS: Iphone is experiencing similar issues after updating to 14.0.1.

For the first time in 10 years of using Apple devices, I faced such a problem. When nearby old Windows laptops are working fine and new Apple devices are not working (((

Please help. At the moment, the devices cannot work stably due to these problems.

Thanks!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Hi!

So I may have found the issue. I was online with a tech from Apple, shout-out Sarah, and we determined that my Norton 360 anti-malware software was causing the issue. It is most likely due to an incompatibility between the recent update 10.15.7. If you have Norton installed on your computer this could be the issue, however this could be the case with any anti-malware software that isn't recommended by Apple. I have removed Norton from my computer and the issue seems to be resolved. If this helps please let me know!

P.S: I will be reinstalling Norton as soon as an update is available and fixes the bug.

Luis,

Let me not dissuade you from the service you provide to the community.

I am not completely convinced of your argument though.

I have had horrible experiences running Windows 10 on Bootcamp. The Intel drivers are not updated and there are so many niggles, that I finally had to pay for a new Windows machine on the side.

The purpose of telling you this is that I do not expect Apple to solve every problem that will arise in Macs. It will simply not be profitable.

For the same reason, we need independent providers in Security. If employers and businesses feel safer with an additional layer of protection, then it is a valid reason for Apple to keep such solutions in mind, when rolling out updates.

CleanMyMac may have a bad rep, but Norton and Avast have been proven Security providers which have the trust of several of my clients. Also, there have been instances, where malware has been found on iOS which is far more restrictive than OSX.

I rest my case. I sincerely appreciate your help and only wish to see a better 3rd party involvement in the matters of security too. As I wish that our Mac user community grows far more, I believe there will be more threats to IT security that comes along with it.

Hi I am having the same problem too. Everything worked fine until my Mac updated the other night and since then it keeps losing the wifi (even though the wifi is running on all other gadgets). It also keeps freezing when I try to open google chrome or safari, and doesn’t allow me to open Finder or the settings very often. No matter how many times I try and restart it, it begins again with the same problems.

is there a way to revert back to the previous update? Or is there something else I can do to help fix this? Please help!

I just upgraded to 10.15.7 today and as soon as I did I was no longer able to establish an SSH connection to my linux servers. When I try to connect, both servers respond with "Permission denied, please try again." I know I am using the correct password because I can connect easily with another 'Non Mac' computer. I've tried clearing the linux machines from the /.ssh/known_hosts file to establish a fresh connection. This did not help. I’m curious if anyone else has had this problem, and if there is a solution.

I am also experiencing WiFi connection issues after updating to 10.15.7.

Every time my laptop wakes up after going to sleep, the WiFi disconnects and an exclamation mark appears over the WiFi icon.

The only temporary fix I have found is turning the WiFi off, leaving it for at least 10 seconds, then turning it on again. More often than not it disconnects again and I have to do this fix 2 or 3 times before the connection becomes stable.

No other devices connected to the same WiFi (mobile, work laptop) have this issue.

I have never downloaded cleanmymac to this laptop, I have removed the antivirus software (Malwarebytes), I have recreated the configuration files and have reset my DNS settings but still no luck.

For reference my Macbook Pro is a 13-inch, Mid 2012 model.

There are several issues that the report shows.

The report took 11 minutes, which is darned slow, and a strong indication that the drive may be failing.

[And even if it's not: if you replace it with an SSD, it is like having a new mac...]

Major Issues:
Anything that appears on this list needs immediate attention.
No Time Machine backup - Time Machine backup not found.
Battery failure - Your battery is reporting that it needs to be serviced.
Failing hard drive - This computer has a hard drive that appears to be failing.
Gatekeeper disabled - Gatekeeper security protection is disabled. This computer is at risk of malware infection.
Apple security disabled - Apple security software is disabled. This computer is at risk of malware infection.

Why disable the built-in security?

It is unclear how any of that may relate to the wifi problem, though.

I don't see anything in terms of kernel extensions that would explain it, but just in case, you could test restarting your mac in Safe Mode, and see if the Wifi problem on waking from sleep still occurs in Safe Mode or not.

Just because you have been having issues with Catalina does not mean it is a bad OS.

Most users have just kept using their macs without issues.

You might want to start a different thread and explain what serious problems you are experiencing.

More often than not, there a local cause; usually it is either old cruft that have been accumulating after upgrading year over year, and suddenly breaks because it was built toward a years old SDK; or just bad software that the user swears it is great...
