After the update Catalina 10.15.7 have problems with the Internet connection

Hello!

After yesterday's MAC OS Catalina 10.15.7 update, today I had a problem with the WiFI connection.

The connection is excellent, the icon shows that everything is fine, but the Internet periodically disappears. Yesterday, after the update, I did not notice any problems. Today it started, it's impossible to work, after turning off and turning on WiFi, the Internet works for 5-10 minutes and then problems again.

There were no such problems before the update.

I have an Airport Express router (firmware 7.81). Rebooting the router, resetting the settings does not help.

No problem with other devices like PS4, TV, Windows laptops.

Next to the Macbook is an old DELL XPS running Windows - Wi-Fi and internet are great, no problem.

PS: Iphone is experiencing similar issues after updating to 14.0.1.

For the first time in 10 years of using Apple devices, I faced such a problem. When nearby old Windows laptops are working fine and new Apple devices are not working (((

Please help. At the moment, the devices cannot work stably due to these problems.

Hi!

So I may have found the issue. I was online with a tech from Apple, shout-out Sarah, and we determined that my Norton 360 anti-malware software was causing the issue. It is most likely due to an incompatibility between the recent update 10.15.7. If you have Norton installed on your computer this could be the issue, however this could be the case with any anti-malware software that isn't recommended by Apple. I have removed Norton from my computer and the issue seems to be resolved. If this helps please let me know!

P.S: I will be reinstalling Norton as soon as an update is available and fixes the bug.

I'm having the same problem and am not very computer literate. I ran Etrecheck as was suggested for someone else, however I have no idea what any of it means. Could someone help interpret it for me?

I did this now, nothing happens again.

I noticed that after waking from sleep mode wifi works 1-2 mins and it drops again with impossibility to turn it on :-|

I am tired fixing this issue

I'm also not sure how I feel about EtreCheck telling me my MacBook Pro may be considered "vintage."

"Vintage" is a designation used by Apple for equipment that is over 5 years old. It is not depreciative or anything, just a name.

Definitely a problem for me too - wifi connection keeps dropping. Please look into this issue.

Good to know, thanks Kevin! Does one frequency work more than the other? (2.4ghz VS. 5ghz)? I don’t believe this had to do with my issue, as I fixed it another away, just curious. Hope it keeps up!

Exactly the same problem, it's very frustrating especially while working remotely at home during these days.

I decide to upgrade to the Big Sur, maybe it will help.

Glad that worked for you. I think that’s always a good simple step to take, even if it connects to other devices just fine but not one in particular, re-forcing the connection between the two.
