After the update Catalina 10.15.7 have problems with the Internet connection

Hello!

After yesterday's MAC OS Catalina 10.15.7 update, today I had a problem with the WiFI connection.

The connection is excellent, the icon shows that everything is fine, but the Internet periodically disappears. Yesterday, after the update, I did not notice any problems. Today it started, it's impossible to work, after turning off and turning on WiFi, the Internet works for 5-10 minutes and then problems again.

There were no such problems before the update.

I have an Airport Express router (firmware 7.81). Rebooting the router, resetting the settings does not help.

No problem with other devices like PS4, TV, Windows laptops.

Next to the Macbook is an old DELL XPS running Windows - Wi-Fi and internet are great, no problem.

PS: Iphone is experiencing similar issues after updating to 14.0.1.

For the first time in 10 years of using Apple devices, I faced such a problem. When nearby old Windows laptops are working fine and new Apple devices are not working (((

Please help. At the moment, the devices cannot work stably due to these problems.

Thanks!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Hi!

So I may have found the issue. I was online with a tech from Apple, shout-out Sarah, and we determined that my Norton 360 anti-malware software was causing the issue. It is most likely due to an incompatibility between the recent update 10.15.7. If you have Norton installed on your computer this could be the issue, however this could be the case with any anti-malware software that isn't recommended by Apple. I have removed Norton from my computer and the issue seems to be resolved. If this helps please let me know!

P.S: I will be reinstalling Norton as soon as an update is available and fixes the bug.

Found the solution....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. First point if you're using any third party cleaning software like cleanMyMac x then just remove it from your machine. Then follow the below tutorial.

If anyone is still facing an issue in latest update of catalina then i would suggest just go through this video tutorial before reseting your mac.

I had tried many ways to fix the issue, even i had ordered the custom connector which is having ethernet cable but found this solution which perfectly worked fine for my laptop(Macbook pro 13'' 2020).

This issue has been plaguing me too. Just randomly browsing the internet stops, through safari and chrome. Everything else continues to work, like sending emails, Skype messages etc

Unfortunately turning the WIFI on and off doesn't work, and I've even deleted it and re-added it in the advanced options. It's a full reboot for it to work again

Now for the apple purists. Yes I have AVG anti virus, F5 VPN and AVG VPN and the reason is that I need an antivirus client to get on to the company network. The deal here is that I had no problems with this setup in 10.15.6

I have a Mac book pro early 2015 so any advice would be welcomed

Hey there! This may not be the cause for you, but I have seen Tunnelblick cause similar troubles after updating. It maybe worth uninstalling it, (Which usually removes the files from the locations in the report but may not), and if there, removing it from your Network Interfaces (System Preferences > Network (Left column)), and I’d remove all those login items as well from System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items, restart and test. I posted some other steps earlier, but this issue doesn’t seem like an all in one fix, but takes some isolation.

TL;DR: See if you have WPA3 enabled on your router (access point) and try disabling it there. No changes were needed on macOS devices after my long search for a solution.

So I had the same problem for 2 weeks now and have a unique situation to get to the bottom of this: I have 2 MacBooks from 2 work projects and my wife has a private MacBook + we have a lot of other devices in our home network. At the beginning of last week we updated all MacBooks, but also my router had a firmware update available which I installed the same day. Since then there were those network disconnection problems.

At first my wife was away from home for the week, so her MacBook wasn't affected and I only worked on one of my MacBooks, so the problem seemed to be only with this one. I tried finding a solution, but found none, so on the weekend I did a clean install, but it didn't fix the problem.

Working on the other MacBook exposed the connectivity problems there, too. Moreover as my wife had no problems during the week away from home and experienced the same issues coming back to our home network, I suspected the router to be the problem and reset it, but that also didn't help.

Now I looked into the system logs of the router and found that only the MacBooks were affected and even more interestingly they always logged out at the same time and exactly every 10 minutes. That had me back to suspecting the macOS update and so I found this thread, but our devices have different anti-malware software (and after looking into CleanMyMac I uninstalled it on my machine), the anti-malware on my wife's device is still active and my other MacBook had no such software.

But I already suspected that that can't be the solution since they are disconnecting like clockwork at the same time, which had me looking into network settings and I thought about what changed apart from the router having a new firmware and I only remembered changing the security settings since the new firmware of the router started supporting "WPA2 + WPA3". After going back to "WPA2 (CCMP)" a little over an hour ago all our devices are steadily connected without any problem.

Maybe someone else can confirm that this is not only the solution for me, but also to your problems.

Once you have removed the CMM software via the developer's instructions you can check to see if you've removed all of the supporting files by downloading and running Find Any File to search for any files with the application's name  and the developer's name in the file name.  For XXXX software you'd do the following search(es):

1 - Name contains cleanmymac

2 - Name contains macpaw

Any files that are found can be dragged from the search results window to the Desktop or Trash bin in the Dock for deletion.

FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages.

If you have problems moving the files to the Trash bin boot into Safe Mode (How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support) by booting with the Shift key held down, rerun Find Any File and move the files to the Trash bin from there. Then reboot normally.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support  to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance. It is totally harmless and does not publish any personal information. It even shortens disk drive names from like "Machintosh HD" to "M**********D".

Have you run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up" or anti-virus apps on your Mac? There is no reason to ever install or run any 3rd party "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or security apps on your Mac.  This user tip describes what you need to know and do to protect your Mac: Effective defenses against malware and other threats - Apple Community

AParyan ran it and found out what was causing the problem.

Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.

The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

Sys Prefs>Network>highlight the Interface you're using>Advanced>TCP/IP>Configure IPv4: Using DHCP.

If using Wifi, instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

System Preferences>Network>choose interface>Advanced>Proxies Tab, make sure none are set, like for HTTP & HTTPS.

System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
