apple pencil gen 2 stopped working after upgrade to iOS 14.0.1

I have Apple pencil 2, it was working fine with my iPad pro before i upgraded to iOS14. When i moved to iOS14, I had to delete and add pencil to bluetooth again to make it work

but now when I upgraded to iOS 14.0.1 its not detecting the pencil.

Please suggest

I chatted with Apple Support. They took me through all the suggested steps to diagnose, disconnect, charge, forget, add and nothing worked. The eventual solution was scheduling a Genius Bar appointment and replacing the Apple Pencil 2.

Within a month, the new Apple Pencil 2 failed to connect even though the IPad Pro (4th Gen) recognized it but didn't offer a way to connect. I erased all data and reset my IPad Pro to factory settings and this didn't work either.

This happened twice; once with a new Apple Pencil 2 and again with the replacement Pencil 2 Apple provided.

The only solution was replacing the Apple Pencil 2. I'm on my fourth Apple Pencil . This is definitely an Apple product quality issue.

Today I shipped my Apple Pencil to an Apple store. To date I have spent half the price of a new Pencil just to get it to the Apple store and I am not certain how it is coming back to me on the Island as yet. Buying a new one was not an option though because by the time I pay customs it would have become insanely expensive. If Apple does change the item to a new one i may have to pay customs on the new item anyway. I began looking for other stylus’ that could work but the only thing I see that seems comparable is the Wacom stylus which is claimed to be better but is over $200USD.

Basically I’m waiting to hear if Apple changes the item or repairs it. I prefer a change because I wonder if I will have the issue that some have had of the pencil not working with their iPad Pro but working with other iPad pros. Sending this thing back again will be costly and just a headache.

The pencil has just worked so well for me. And I have made considerable use of it over the 11 months that I have had it. I am convinced that this had something to do with the update to IPad OS 14.1 because it just stopped working suddenly. I do hope Apple throws in some extra tips or something. But I am not banking on this.

My problem is that it works fine making lines and tilt seems to work fine...until I bring the pencil upright again, sometimes it acts like its still tilted. It started happening after I got my new iPad Pro, more particularly, after downloading 14.2. Talked to Apple Support, changed tips, Hard restarted, factory resetted, still showing the same issue. My pencil is just over 2 years old. They suggested I go into a store to have them run a diagnostic on it. But I don't want to go anywhere in public. I've heard from others that this is an issue with 14.2

The pens are great when they work and like most things suck when they don't. The common failure scenario seems to indicate Li-ion capacity degradation. They work at first and within a relatively short period of time (~ a month) begin to fail to connect. Keep in mind that a pen's charge is relative. Li-ion with each charge cycle loses some charge capacity. 100% charge on one pen may be a month while on another 5 minutes. After 500 cycles, a li-ion battery will lose anywhere from 13 - 25% charge capacity.

I unfortunately don’t have an Apple store in my region. The advisors in the chat attempted to assist but everything we tries was useless. The case was elevated higher then I was told I have to call Mexico or Brazil because the rest will need to be done over the phone. However my current plan does not support calls to these countries. So I need to sort this out

Nothing has worked for me. I am currently of the opinion that if you don’t live in the USA or a place with an Apple location these devices are not for you. Because I am having so much trouble just replacing this. Spending money to make international calls because Apple USA will not deal with me on the phone or (FaceTime) but sends me to deal with Mexico and Brazil. The service there just isn’t the same.

if the pencil is going to just stop working for no reason then it isn’t well made. It is junk. As a long time user of Apple products I am disgusted by this. If a product will just stop working for no apparent reason within the warranty period then it is junk. Looks like I am about to lose my $129 spent on this pricey device. If this is the case I am switching to Samsung or windows surface devices. I am not impressed with how Apple deals with customers in certain regions. I feel like a lower class customer.

In a way, that is one of the cool aspects of the Gen 2 design: The best way to store it without losing it is also the only way to charge it - attach it to the iPad. If you're using the iPad and Pen at any sort of reasonable interval, there's literally no reason it would ever completely lose its charge, and if you're like most people, the Pen is probably stashed on the iPad, with the Magic Keyboard, whenever it's not in use.

I absolutely love the Gen 2 pen - when it was actually working - and used it for darn near everything. I don't know if it's a manufacturing / design flaw or something that can be fixed with firmware, but they do need to fix it.
