apple pencil gen 2 stopped working after upgrade to iOS 14.0.1

Getting a replacement either through Apple Support or buying another one seems to be the only solution when this occurs to the Apple Pencil 2s.

Retrospective:

The poor design of version 1 was most likely the result of the product management team's failure to gather basic design precepts from the pencil and pen industries, e.g a round cylinder design rolls off desks and breaks. To address this design flaw, Apple put a flat edge on version 2. Why just one flat edge? No room inside?

Duh. Version 2 now suffers from connectivity issues and whiteout. How many customers lose sight of the pencil in bed? A white pencil on white bed sheets offers no contrast. Bed sheets and linens are white. Apple needs to add different color options and better connectivity.

Not eveyone has white bed lines.

My wife and I like color.

All of our bed lnens are of various colors and NOT white.

I have had my original 1st gen Apple Pencil for well over a year now and it is still working well with both of my 2015/2016 12.9 inch iPad Pro models and on my wife’s iPad 8th gen all on the latest iPadOS 14.4.1.

Not everyone is having issues with their iPads and Pencils on iPadOS 14.

Thanks and your personal preference for non-white bed linens doesn’t change the fact that the majority is white. It also isn’t the point. Offering color options is in addition to better design and improved reliability. P!ss poor design. SJ must be rolling in his grave.

I have similar issue , after i upgraded to IOS 14.0 , Pencil 2 is not detecting & not charging. I have logged case with Apple.

I have the same problem. After upgrading to iOS 14.0.1, the Pencil no longer works. All attempts to fix the problem have failed. There is definitely a software error here.

I upgraded to 14.0.1 from 14.0. Issue is still there. Apple support collected logs yesterday .........waiting for their reply

I behaved exactly the same. To Apple: Such mistakes for Pro devices that are supposed to replace a laptop are not acceptable!

Did the new Apple Pencil work?

The new Apple Pencil 2 worked on my iPad Pro.

My original Apple Pencil 2 worked on a different iPad Pro (at Best Buy); just not on my iPad Pro that I updated..

I suspect something went wrong with the firmware. I am not in the US or anywhere that has an Apple store. So I’m stuck till I can send it in.

Did you ever get a solution to this? I am having the same issue and no resolution after hours with support.
