I'm having issue with add card to wallet on my iPhone only, when click on "add card", it said "Could not set up Apple Pay - an error occurred while setting up Apple Pay", at the meantime I successfully added card on iPad and Mac, why only iPhone has the issue with add card, have searched every solution online, my region setting is correct, looking for solution for iPhone.

None of these suggestions helped or addressed the problem. I can't get past the "add card" step without an error message. So I can't even enter card info.
I had this problem for a year spoke to apple for weeks no one could have helped me, until I saw a message that if you change your region from us to any other and you change back to us it will work
Do you have to put credit card details in to change region?

I’m not the only one then, I’ve also done everything I can possibly think of, even had my card replaced, still can’t add it to my Apple Watch, and only my Amex card, my visa and MasterCards are fine
I posted the solution to my problem yesterday (March 5). I'll keep my eyes open and if I find anything I'll share.
Changing my region worked. Even though my region was already United States I just pressed United States and Apple phone started working!
I had the same issue. So basically what you need to do is click on the big thing with the pictures of cards. Don’t click add just click that. Then you’ll be able to set up Apple pay
Reclicking US as region, even thought it was already selected, solved it for me.
Just fixed the issue after months. Even if you have the correct region, change it to something else and then change it back. This will fix it 100% guaranteed.
Changing region helped me too!
