Can't Invite contacts to Calendar events on Mac

Hi.

I cannot invite people to an event on my Mac Calendar. Here's the steps I'm taking:

Open Calendar > Pick a date > Share with an email address (which is in my contacts) > before I can even hit send a popup appears telling me 'Calendar will be unable to send the invitation. To me able to send invitations, you need to create an address card for yourself in contacts.'

So, I delete my contact, and create another and the same thing happens.

Another attempt begins with opening my Contacts and dragging the contact onto the Calendar, and then I get the 'Send' button option. I click it and get this error: 'Calendar was unable to save changes to event. There was an internal error attempting to save this event. The changes made were not saved.'

Can anyone advise how I can get around this issue and send invites?

I'm running Catalina 10.15.7 btw.

You've noted the error message 'Calendar will be unable to send the invitation. To me able to send invitations, you need to create an address card for yourself in contacts.' While this is helpful it might not be the complete solution to the problem.

One possible cause of this error comes to mind. Have you identified your own Contact card entry as "My Card"? If you have not this might be the cause of the calendar not being able to send an email.

To choose your Contact card as "My Card" go to Contacts, find you card, click on it then use the dropdown option Card > Make this my card.

You may have done this but it's worth checking.
