"This system cannot play this protected movie"

Has anyone received this error "This system cannot play this protected movie"? I received it when I went to play a movie that I have purchased and downloaded to my macbook and have played many times before. Not connected to any other displays, just using my macbook pro.

It sounds like you are unable to play purchased movies on your Mac. We can help with this.


You mentioned that you purchased and downloaded this movie, was this done in iTunes? If so, are you using the same Apple ID that you used to purchase the movie originally? Is your Mac authorized currently? This article will explain how to authorize your Mac if you are unsure: Authorize or deauthorize your computer for iTunes Store purchases


If this movie was purchased and downloaded from somewhere other than iTunes, we'd recommend contacting the company that you purchased the movie from to see if any additional steps are required.
