If it’s network traffic than why does the issue stop if I turn off dictation. With dictation enabled the spinning wheel gets stuck on and if I don’t notice it it will drain my battery in a matter of hours. This is not normal. It really sucks to mot be able to use dictation but that is the only thing that fixes the issue.

Because dictation uses online vocabulary database. This has already been pointed out somewhere in the last 16 pages.

There has been no actual evidence presented here (even after asking for it and giving the methodology to do so) that it caused any battery drain.

Thank you. Unfortunately being up to date on the software version did not work for me. I am currently on 14.6 and was still having this issue until I turned off dictation again yesterday. Oh and by the way this issue has been on my previous iPhone 7 and now on my iPhone 8, so definitely not specific to a certain phone.

So after reading the full 16 pages, I have not learned anything new, other than the fact that many others are experiencing the same problem. Yes I understand that dictation uses an online vocabulary database. But that still doesn’t explain why it gets stuck on. And despite a lack of empirical evidence, in my case I definitely notice a decrease in my battery charge after it gets stuck on. I turned off dictation again yesterday. I will try to gets pics of the graphs you are asking for over the next few days.

Nobody published the 48 hour test so I can only conclude that nobody could find any recordable difference in battery usage with or without the spinning icon.

Apple sent me a new phone. Still the same problem
