Spinning wheel icon

I constantly have a spinning wheel icon on the top of my new iPhone SE 2020 by the WiFi icon. I have closed all apps, stopped background refresh and other common steps but no luck. I have the latest iOS. Any suggestions????

iPhone SE, iOS 14

Ya, sure it is LD150... How many of these phones do you own and have personal experience with?

I wholeheartedly concur.

Especially since the evidence that has been produced, so far, counter indicate the claims of battery drain, from the “spinning wheel”.

I haven’t owned an SE2020

That’s why I want to see the evidence that seems to become elusive as soon as we asked for it.

I am a scientist, I need conclusive evidence, not here-say.

The spinning wheel is indisputable, annoying, but the power usage is still not proven.

Plenty of other reasons for battery use.

I bought an iPhone SE a few months ago because my iPhone X kept having problems with lines going through it. I figured I’d go back to a simpler phone... but the SE has constantly had the spinning wheel problem next to the WiFi icon. I watched probably 10 YouTube videos and tried everything suggested to no avail. I work at a school and the 5th graders saw me in the hallway messing with the phone. I had just turned my phone off and on AGAIN and they asked if they could help. Several suggestions were offered that I had already tried then one of them said... go to your settings, choose Safari, scroll down and click Clear History and Website Data. I did that and the spinning wheel was gone! It’s been gone all day!! I hope this works for you, too!

I guess none of us are smarter than a 5th grader! Not even Apple!

Tomorrow morning turn off Dictation and Siri

Let the phone run as normal for 24 hours

Next morning screenprint the 24 hr battery graph in Settings Battery

Immediately afterwards re-enable Siri and Dictation

Let the phone run as normal another 24 hours

Screenprint the Battery chart again

Paste the 2 pieces graphic evidence of extra Battery drain here.

Scientifically it needs to be done several times but one set of graphs would be nice.

Until then we have only anecdotal evidence that this is more than a cosmetic feature.

With the evidence it can be presented to Apple,

Only SE owners can provide the evidence.

I tell the solution first.Turn off keyboard dictation from keyboard tab, then reset network settings and turn your phone on and off.You will see it improved. My phone is iphone SE 2020.I think this is a big problem but even most of the apple service workers don't know how to fix this problem.I then uploaded google gboard and erased the apple keyboard. Now I can use keyboard dictation without any problems.Using an android keyboard in ios should be degrading for apple.

After my last upgrade -it’s fixed!!!!!

When I went to the Apple store and they gave me a new phone the person working Genius Bar told me she’s never ever heard of this issue and I said well you can go look it up people are writing about it all over the Internet! In Apple discussions!

Even with my new phone it started again they must’ve fixed it from within the upgrade

I have an iPhone 8 aka iPhone se2 and have had the issue since iOS 12. I keep thinking Apple will fix it but it is hooked to the voice to text or Siri. I’ve done it all… But the fix is shut down all the apps hit your home button activate Siri and then turn it off and it should stop if it doesn’t repeat usually it will do it within a couple of tries. if you don’t pay attention your battery will be dead by noon. I hope that helps… Apple should fix it but for some reason I don’t think they will.
