I installed iOS 14 on my iPhone 7 Plus, and now the alarm BLARES!! The phone's volume setting is low to moderate; the Sounds/Haptics is set to low/moderate. The alarm volume overrides those settings. In Alarms there is no way to set a volume.
When the alarm goes off, using the 'volume down' button snoozes the alarm instead of adjusting the volume.

Thanks, Idris. I am using the alarm function in the clock, and it happens regardless of the sound or song chosen for the alarm. The problem stopped for two days and the volume was normal, but then it went back to blaring even though I had not changed any settings on the phone prior to the volume dropping or raising again.

I think the fact that there are lots of pages of people stating the same issue on this one individual thread alone would indicate that this is a common problem, actually.
Infuriating issue. Have lodged feedback with Apple directly.

There are six pages in this thread. If it were a common problem, there would be ten times that. Does that mean the problem isn't annoying or frustrating to those few who have it? No. It just means it's not likely to be top priority on the list of things to get fixed.
That's not helpful at all - it turns off the volume for the ringer for incoming phone calls. I need to be able to hear the phone ring.
Same issue. It is beyond aggravating. It is independent of the general sound settings and only in the sleep app.

A few heart attacks to my normal 'sleep function' alarm re-setting to max volume and waking the whole neighbourhood (it seems at 4.35am). I have lodged a complaint re ios14 BTW.
For me, togeling the "change with buttons" on works like a charm 😊

Actually turn on the change to button— at the bottom of your picture. Slide it to green. That turns it back to the older settings where you can change using your volume buttons.
The alarm sound is certainly no louder than it was on the iPhone 8, X, XS or 11, I can state with absolute certainty.
I use Attention Aware. My phone is not and never has been at maximum volume. Attention Aware lowers the volume. It does not force it to maximum.
Same issue with me - massively annoying!
Perfect, I was having to go in every night to knock the volume down, much appreciated.
I changed this setting and then tested the alarm again and it’s still going off at max volume
Fir my first alarm I can set the volume low. But if I snooze it then the next alarm gets loud on my first gen SE.
