How can I import my Final Cut Express 4 projects into Final Cut Pro X?

I bought Final Cut Pro X and MS Office 365 for the new iMac which I will be buying soon.

Now I am still working with iMac 21' mid 2011 with MacOS 10.11.6, Final Cut Express 4 and MS Office 2011.

I bought the book from Tom Wolsky Final Cut Pro X but it doesn't explain how I can transfer Final Cut Express 4 projects to the new Final Cut Pro X (I have 169 FCE projects or MiniDV tapes). Situation is mentioned (not clearly) in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8333730

Please can someone write me how I can transfer Final Cut Express 4 projects to Final Cut Pro X that I will start using soon and do I need Final Cut Pro 7.

I need a step-by-step explanation because I am a novice user.

Unfortunately there is no direct way to transfer or migrate FCE projects into Final Cut Pro X. Many people tried and just gave up in frustration.

However, you might look into this ... a few years ago Tom Wolsky had indicated that it was possible to open an FCE project in Final Cut Pro 6 or 7 (both also now obsolete and unsupported and do not run on Catalina) and then relink the media and export the project to an XML file. You could then use the SendToX utility to convert the XML file for import into Final Cut Pro X. Clearly this was a very involved process and it would be an awful lot of work to convert 169 FCE projects using this method. And of course you would need to get a copy of FCP 6 or 7 and run it on your old Mac.

I would suggest keeping your old 21" Mac around just to run FCE for your old projects. And do new projects on your new Mac with FCPX.
