NEVER EVER use Wi-Fi for Migration Assistant, it will fail almost 100% of the time. Use the old Mac's Time Machine External Hard Disk and connect it to the 2010 (also an ancient machine) using a USB cable. Once connected then launch Migration Assistant on the 2010.
Do not use Wi-Fi for migration.
Try using a direct Ethernet connection or better yet, the Time Machine backup from the 2008 iMac.
