No elevation on Apple Watch 6

I just did a rest of my Watch 6 by pressing and holding the crown wheel and side button for 10 seconds until the apple logo appeared, let it reboot and checked the elevation and it was still wasn’t showing, however, a few minutes later it was back and actually correct. Fingers crossed for the fix to the 3 years of missing GPS Maps. I did do a test workout for a new walk tonight, starting and finishing at my house, but the GPS showed the end of my route about 1/2 mile away from my house, even though I ended the workout at my house.

so I just did another hard reset like you described. Now mine is showing the correct height of 60m matching the iPhone altitude.

I hope they sort this out or someone can actually explain this phenomenon.

elevation is now back and correct.

I have just uninstalled the compass app from the phone. (This removes it from the watch also). Reset both devices, then installed the compass back on to the phone which puts it back on the watch.

NOPE still not working 😒

If you want to try the un install, it might be worth turning off location data for compass first! 💭 because it didn’t request access after I reinstalled it.

exactly the same issue as yourself mine just stopped working yesterday as well just the three dashes. New watch also 😡. Did you change the compass to show true north by any chance? I also checked the settings for access and also did a forced reset.

But Siri will give you your elevation if you ask. So probably a bug rather than hardware I hope 🤞

I've had Apple do a remote hardware diagnostic, done a restore from a backup, and set the watch up as new again. Nothing has solved the issue. It's also occurring on both Series 6 and SE watches, so I'm guessing it's a bug in 7.0.1.

I started to question if hardware was a problem I was going up and down some hilly terrain and asked for elevation via Siri, the level was stuck for a while at a set elevation then it kicked in to gear and started sensing elevation changes again but it took a few miles.

Unfortunately, as we have all come to discover the compass and complications are still no longer getting the data.

In regard to your workouts. Don’t worry, I had the same issue in the past. As long as you unpaired your old watch this creates a backup. When you restored to your new one it should link up. It does take a while to sync everything back mine took ages. like you I thought my workout data was gone forever.

Thanks you. To be honest I can’t remember the exact sequence of how I setup my my Watch 6 as I was so excited 😁. I do have all I’ve the other work out data going back three years, including all the HR curves, split times, durations etc. Plus the achievements and the Trends. It’s only the GPS map of the route that’s missing.

Same. The altitude readings came back yesterday but were completely wrong, x3 the actual value. Did the hard reset like suggested, then got the blank field. Just checked my watch this morning and my elevation is correct again. 🤷‍♂️

Apple SE watch -Three days old, elevation stopped working after 2 hours. Spent 3+ Hours with Support - disappointing & tried all troubleshooting. Really frustrating as no “fix”. Is it a bug? Need Apple techs to come out and inform.

Thank you. I just asked Siri, and I’m at 221ft which is absolutely correct, and the longitude and latitude is also correct, so will have to wait for a fix.

I’m having the same issue. Has anyone found a fix or is it a software bug. I’m on 7.0.2
