Fitness App not registering workouts

Ever since latest iPhone iOS update, the fitness app is not working correctly. Workouts are not always showing up even though started and stopped via Workout app on watch. If a workout does show up, the GPS data is not shown, just one point at the beginning. There is no sync between Fitness and Health app.

Hey there slickest1964,

Based on your post it sounds like you're having issue with your workout data being recorded and updated as expected. Is that correct? We're more than happy to help advise.

Please make sure you're running the most recent versions of both iOS and watchOS on both devices. We recently released iOS 14.0.1 and watchOS 7.0.1. Once updated you can also make sure your Apple Watch is calibrated to help improve workout and activity accuracy. Take a look at the resources below.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, my watch and iPhone are up to date with the latest OS and have been since their publication. I noted today that for three days in a row, a workout has been transferred to the Fitness app but the Map/track/GPS data still remains absent.

(As an aside, I have also noticed that the Sleep app does not record all my sleep but it's not just the Apple Sleep app that doesn't ... also Pillow hasn't for weeks. I have checked all Settings, or at least the ones I know about, to make sure that automatic collection of data is activated but still some Sleep data is missing or not there at all for days.)

I followed the instructions above and reset the calibration data. I will check if there is any change following my next workout.

Hi, I have similar issue since the updates of the latest the iOS and watchOS. The data (steps, miles, flights climbed, etc.) in App Fitness was not synchronized to App Health. I have tried everything I can find online but nothing works. After erasing and restoring data on both iPhone and Apple Watch, it is better but still there is around 1000 steps per day difference between Fitness and Health (the difference of steps was ~5000 per day before). Actually, it worked totally fine in previous iOS and watchOS.

My Fitness app is still not accurately syncing all fitness data onto the Watch Fitness app even when started and stopped via the Apple Watch. I have begun to leave a voice message so I can note my distance and time to enter in another record that I keep because I can't depend on the iPhone/Apple Watch to record it accurately. I followed the advice offered above at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211865: If you're missing Workout GPS routes or Health data after updating to iOS 14 and watchOS 7.

When I completed that operation, the iPhone indicated that the Fitness app was restoring activity from the iCloud and this went on for quite a while, however, the activity I completed on the morning was not restored. All track data going back months has not been restored. Heart rate data has also not been restored completely. I have noticed that the app called Fitness is only on the watch in settings and it is titled Activity. Neither Activity nor Fitness is in settings on the iPhone. Is this normal? The Health app on the phone indicated that it was downloading Health data from the cloud and this continued for quite awhile but no data was apparent. The Health app has a category called activity but that also didn't record the walking activity this morning. On days when the Fitness app is used on the watch, a track does not display on the iPhone under Fitness.

This information is getting too much to put on this bulletin board. To summarize, the Fitness app is a disaster.
