Findmy not showing location of stolen device after blocking

Hello community, my MacBook Pro has been stolen a few days ago, so first thing I did was to activate Lost Mode on the find my iPhone app, also activated the notify when found option, and to play sound as well.

Today I received 2 emails from Apple (noreply@email.apple.com) notifying that a sound was played today and that Mac has been blocked.

I understand this happens once the Mac connects to internet, but find my device is not showing its location, not actual neither from the last hours. It shows offline.

My question is for which reason the Mac didn't send the IP address of that connection to Apple Servers if it was reported as lost?

I am aware that this connection wasn't established through a VPN because the WhatsApp App was open on the Mac and it shows an active connection in the same area it was stolen with exactly the same time the Mac connected to de internet and got blocked.

The device is a MacBook Pro 15' Late 2013 with High Sierra, and user login password was not active.

Any ideas?

Thank you very much for your help.

Hello mac-mpo15,

We're sorry to hear that your MacBook Pro has been stolen.

As outlined under the "If you need more help" section of this article: Use the Find My app to locate a lost or stolen device, "If your device is powered off, the battery has run out, or more than 24 hours has passed since its last location was sent to Apple, you can't see your device's location."

Additionally, we recommend reviewing this article: If your Mac is lost or stolen, and if you have not already, report the Mac as stolen to local law enforcement.

Take care.
