Apple Music Family Sharing Plan Owner Change

From what I understand, if those in my family sharing Apple Music plan want to switch the owner of the plan, we would have to disband the family share and create a new one with a different owner. However, it seems like this would result in all of our music and playlists being deleted, despite signing right back up for a new subscription. Is there any other way to remove an owner from a family sharing group (and keeping everyone else) without losing all of our music and playlists. We do not want to have to go back and re-download every song and re-create every playlist.
