I recorded a video for my YouTube channel. After editing it, I try to crop out any unwanted borders. When I finish cropping out the borders, I wait for “preparing video”, but it’s stuck at about 25%, and doesn’t load anymore. Can someone help?

I was able to fix this issue by double tapping the video when it was stuck. The progress would go back to 0 and slowly make its way to 100%. I was able to do this twice.
seems the issue happens if you lock or move away from the photo app while it’s preparing.

This is absolutely ridiculous and frustrating. Why hasn’t Apple fixed this issue yet?!

It’s ridiculous! What use to happen in a flash now takes longer than 1940s tech. Must be sending it off to some other location to save it, for someone…

Yes, I'm sure there are many people living in developing countries whose main concerns are that they can't crop their videos.

iPhone 11 Pro 256gb from late 2019 here. Same issue, the double tap workaround seems to be working if you stay zoomed in and gently tapping the screen again and again to keep it from sleeping/locking. Still, it's going so slow that I never had the time to keep tapping my phone for an hour or so. My video remains unedited for eternity I guess.
Tried a reboot, hard reset and software update to iOS 14.1 and it's still not resolved. Very sad. Citing the apple fan boys "it just works" at this point to emphasize my despair as PC user :D

I spent an hour making a video, and making it better, and for nothing ... Then I could even access it !!! Ridiculous!
FIX THIS APPLE!
So you just click EDIT and choose REVERT to revert to the original video, with no effects, plug the cable in a PC (YES APPLE, A FKN PC!) and get the video file from the phone and use a video editor in the PC ... Or try imovie. Im not risking it ...Going straight to Videopad video editor ...
Same thing is happening to me I’m a YouTube creator and on deadline to get some videos up by December first. I just bought the 12 pro Max thinking it was just my old iPhone 8 having the issue and it’s happening on this brand new thousand dollar phone too. I am beyond frustrated. This seems like this should be a basic and easy feature .
I’m using 14.4 public beta .after repeated “prepare video “ trouble, I’ve just restart my iPhone 11 and it completely solved . Apple never disappoints you , May be later but must be better than other OS.
also find this issue super annoying, i have found a way around it (i think?). so after you finish trimming your video, cropping it, or whatever the edit may be. instead of tapping the option that says “save video”, tap the other option that says “save video as new clip” and it will instantly save the new edited clip without having that stupid “preparing video” loading bar. hope this helps anyone still having this issue in 2021 lol! cheers.
