Video stuck on “Preparing Video”

I recorded a video for my YouTube channel. After editing it, I try to crop out any unwanted borders. When I finish cropping out the borders, I wait for “preparing video”, but it’s stuck at about 25%, and doesn’t load anymore. Can someone help?

iPhone XR, iOS 14

Mine is also doing this. I have an 11 pro max. This is ridiculous. I've tried updating my apps, my phone is at the latest update. I've tried deleting photos or videos. I've tried powering off and back on. I am a realtor and need to be able to email videos and edit them. This is the entire reason I upgraded for the new camera. APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS BUG, all of my videos are now corrupt and stuck on "preparing" even a video that was never edited, won't send and its only 45 seconds long. It's stuck. Expensive phone to have 3rd world problems. Embarrassing

I'm having this exact same issue. It's almost comical how terrible Apple has slowly devolved and become over time.

I remember when they used to be INNOVATORS... now they can't even get their videos on their software to work properly without having to ignore the fact that it's broken for the next several months.

Instead of RIPPING US OFF and not including charges in our new phones, cause you wanna pretend to be "woke", how about you go back to the basics and fix the SIMPLE things that people want and need?

how this is resolved ? also, why it is marked as solved ? after editing the video, mine is stuck at 25% stating as 'preparing video'. I am using iPhone 11 Pro and its so embarrassing that after having so expensive phone we cannot even edit our video as it gets stuck like this!!! If changes are Reverte back to original then it works but after editing, it gets stuck !!!

I don't understand why this issue is marked as solved. I have a 9 second video that has been stuck at 25% for the last 20 minutes. All I did was crop it. I reverted the changed, cropped it, and it still gets stuck at 25%.

There is definitely an issue here that needs to be addressed.

2020 iPhone SE, iOS 14.0.1, video is 4K30, 25.9 MB recorded from the Apple Camera App, 9 seconds long.

If I go home after I see 25%, then back to the video, the progress circle stops working correctly. See the attached picture.

Don’t worry everything is OK don’t be alarmed when I say this but your iPhone has a virus it’s a new Trojan virus that slows your iPhone down overtime I had it to the only way to fix it is to do a hard reset on your phone it’s really easy you don’t need to sign back in all you do is power off your phone and then hold volume down and power at the same time and when the Apple logo comes back up the virus will be gone I did this myself and it worked

Unfortunately, Apple is aware of this issue but doesn't want to admit that its ecosystem is part of the problem. Lol and no this is not "Solved" Apple administrator. Apple seems to be running some pretty heavy algorithms for the cameras. The quality of the photos that come from the pro series isn't an authentic, truly captured image, at least not based on what I have seen in testing.

I think its algorithm issues that Apple runs to make their cameras capture better quality than the camera is actually capable of getting. Apple isn't going to come out and say that is the issue but that's my theory. Anyways, below is my small solution. I hope it helps some. If it works, I'm sad to say that someone who isn't on Apples roster cares more about its customers than Apple. These solutions may seem wanky, but give them a shot and you might be surprised.

My solution:

Step 1) Turn off and unsubscribe to iCloud Photos. If want to stay subscribed you can, but I personally turn my iCloud photos off and use a different storage method. If you have any photos, and internet connection issues, iCloud can throttle some of your ability to seamlessly use the photos. Why? Because their service is constantly trying to upload (Sync) versions of your videos and photos to the web while you are using them. Imagine making a purchase at a store and instead of walking out of the store, you get back in line and purchase the same item again and again. Ok, not the perfect comparison but it can cause issues.

Step 2) Try the hard reset mentioned in other threads. But this might not be necessary. It's just a good way to clear out some gunk.

Step 3) Delete your photos that are corrupted then undelete them. No joke here. Go ahead and delete the photos that are giving you issues. After you delete them, bring them back from your deleted photos. They should no longer be corrupted.

Step 4) Select the photo that Orient your phone in a different direction than you had it when you first tried accessing your photos then double tap the screen. Then bring them back to the orientation you want and that might do the trick.

These are things that have worked with me for both photos and videos.

Same problem. I have iPhone 8. Prior to iOS 14 and 14.1 update, I was able to edit the videos fine. Now is problematic. During video editing in either "Camera" or "Photos" App, it shows "Preparing Video", then it just froze and can't use the App anymore. Have to press Home button a few times to get out of it, but the problem didn't get fixed. When I go back to check the video, it's still frozen and can't play the video. Power reset a few times, problem exists. Apple, please fix the bug.

Did the hard reset. Rotating video 90 degrees and saving works now but as soon you apply sharpness, definition or other effect options it again is stuck at 25% Preparing video. Maybe it could be the same glitch that happens with shooting hour and longer timelapse videos on iPhone and then preparing video takes a week to process???
