Video stuck on “Preparing Video”

I recorded a video for my YouTube channel. After editing it, I try to crop out any unwanted borders. When I finish cropping out the borders, I wait for “preparing video”, but it’s stuck at about 25%, and doesn’t load anymore. Can someone help?

iPhone XR, iOS 14

I was able to fix this issue by double tapping the video when it was stuck. The progress would go back to 0 and slowly make its way to 100%. I was able to do this twice.

seems the issue happens if you lock or move away from the photo app while it’s preparing.

Don’t worry everything is OK don’t be alarmed when I say this but your iPhone has a virus it’s a new Trojan virus that slows your iPhone down overtime I had it to the only way to fix it is to do a hard reset on your phone it’s really easy you don’t need to sign back in all you do is power off your phone and then hold volume down and power at the same time and when the Apple logo comes back up the virus will be gone I did this myself and it worked

I had the same issue and thought that it was my fault (Imean I edited the video on my mac using adobe premiere so the video was kinda heavyweight) and that is why it doesn't upload. I used then fastreel to crop the video https://www.fastreel.com/crop-video.html (after the 2-3 months after that attempt) and everything worked out. I think that IPhone just heard your begs.)

scroll down, past the photo of the window sill...a person explained the fix and saved me! He had more detail, his answer started with "don't worry..." Essentially he said hold the power on/off and the up/down volume at the same time until the apple logo appears. Worked for me! After that I got on screen instruction to plug into a computer, put in the apple address given, and repeat that hold buttons on both sides of phone.. Easy! Worked! Done! I went to all the trouble to register and sign in here just to find my way back to him and thank him, but since it was just luck that I kept scrolling down and down I thought I'd put this info. up near the top where others might see it. Good luck!

Did the hard reset. Rotating video 90 degrees and saving works now but as soon you apply sharpness, definition or other effect options it again is stuck at 25% Preparing video. Maybe it could be the same glitch that happens with shooting hour and longer timelapse videos on iPhone and then preparing video takes a week to process???

Same problem. I have iPhone 8. Prior to iOS 14 and 14.1 update, I was able to edit the videos fine. Now is problematic. During video editing in either "Camera" or "Photos" App, it shows "Preparing Video", then it just froze and can't use the App anymore. Have to press Home button a few times to get out of it, but the problem didn't get fixed. When I go back to check the video, it's still frozen and can't play the video. Power reset a few times, problem exists. Apple, please fix the bug.

Mine is also doing this. I have an 11 pro max. This is ridiculous. I've tried updating my apps, my phone is at the latest update. I've tried deleting photos or videos. I've tried powering off and back on. I am a realtor and need to be able to email videos and edit them. This is the entire reason I upgraded for the new camera. APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS BUG, all of my videos are now corrupt and stuck on "preparing" even a video that was never edited, won't send and its only 45 seconds long. It's stuck. Expensive phone to have 3rd world problems. Embarrassing
