What Final Cut Pro are you talking about? The legacy FCP 7 was last updated some 11 years ago. No way you could run it in Catalina. But if you are talking about any version of FCP X, you can update that, and for free. Anyone who has purchased FCP X since it was released in 2011 has enjoyed free updates ever since. Best software purchase I ever made 😄

After I upgraded to Catalina I went to open Final Cut Pro x Version 10.4 and it said I did not have the newest version of it and it would not operate. I then tried a couple other apps and the same thing happened. It acts like I don’t have the program to update it to the newest version. The newest version I mean Whatever that one is that will work with Catalina.

The current version of Final Cut Pro is 10.4.10 and it runs perfectly well in Catalina. I have been using it just about every day.

You have to be logged into the App Store with the same Apple Id used to purchase the application (that is true for any application at the App Store).

Sometimes, for reasons unknown, the updates may not appear. In that case, click your account image in the bottom left and make sure that Final Cut Pro appears in the list of purchases. It should say "Open". Quit the App Store, open your Applications folder in the Finder and drag Final Cut Pro to the trash (but don't empty it just yet). Open the App Store again, and in the same place as before it will now say "Download". Click it. You will get the latest version.
