IOS14 severe battery drain on SE

A user posted a comment here that he was able to downgrade the OS on 1st Gen SE and he could see the improvement in battery performance.

Why was the comment deleted?

Apple doesn't want users to know that?

We have the very same problem as everyone else For iphone se 1st gen.

You can see the battery % counting down every few seconds even though its not in use.

Very frustrating again from Apple, please Apple come up with a solution.

In case anyone else wants to continue with this rollback nonsense, there is no way to go backwards with ios version without jail breaking. Such practice is against the terms of use that you agreed to when joining the community. Don’t discuss it here is all.

Nothing against forum rules suggesting people buy android phones, but I never had a droid last as long or feel as good as my iphones.

If you think anyone here cares a jot about your advice you would be wrong.

My only 2 phones in use at the moment are iphone 6S and 7

My IOS 14.5 gives same battery life as iOS 12 did

If you want to walk away from the Apple ecosystem go ahead. You might be better spending a few £ or $ on a new battery.

I must respectfully disagree that either iOS 14 messes up older iphones, or that thetr is a conspiracy to force customets to upgrade to newer phones.

Technology moves on and if you look at the 2007 spec for iphone 1 it is laughably weak, and it is social demands for faster and more powerful services in conjunction with competition that eventually makes older phones obsolete.

I can bet that iphone 6S will get no more updates because iOS 15 will be too much fir them. If Apple wanted to ruin the 6S they would let us upgrade to 15.

If new version of iOS is gonna be heavier for older model iOS why Apple is waiting till iOS 15. Why don’t Apple leave 6s earlier when the earlier versions are actually intended to improve 7 or 8. It difficult to believe that Apple QA folks can’t catch this issue in their testing.

We got the 14.6 update about 2 weeks ago. My wife updated and now her SE is doing the same. Loses 98% of the battery in +- 4 hours, and then stays on until the next morning. She charged it one day after work, took it off the charger when it was full, switched it off and the next morning when she switched it on it was on 50%...

She uses the phone for text and calls only. No other apps running on it. She has a XR for personal and the SE 2016 for work.

Did you manage to get yours sorted out?

My phone discharged to dead a few dozen times and it made no difference in the health meter

There doesn't seem to be anything from Apple to help us. I convinced the wife to leave Android and go with Apple because of their reliability but she'll be going back to Android after this.

Yes, it is a battery problem. If Apple wants to maintain any reputation for reliability, they need to replace all these SE batteries for free. Preferably with better batteries.

I am glad to hear that Apple support would do that for you. They told me it was not possible to revert to an earlier iOS. If I could have done so, I would still be using my iPhone SE.
