closing library
How do you get rid of the 'closing library" every time I open Photos? I was importing photos and may have quit early but now cannot get into Photos at all.
MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.12

I've run into that a number of times previously. I forced quit Photos and reopened it immediately and then tried closing again. It usually closed as intended after that.
If the library continues to not close properly launch Photos with the Command+Option keys held down and repair the library. Warning: if you have iCloud Library enabled this will trigger a full upload/comparison of the two libraries and can take a considerable amount of time depending on the size of the library.

How long have you waited for the library to close after starting photos. Might be worth leaving it overnight.
