How to erase my Apple Watch from my iCloud?

I'm trying to erase my Apple Watch from my iCloud in order to complete the trade-in but when Iclick erase, an error message pops up and will not allow me to. I feel like maybe I'm missing a step.

On a computer, go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.

Go to Find Iphone.

Select All Devices, then click your Apple Watch.

Click Erase Apple Watch.

Select Next until the device is erased.

Click the remove button next to your Apple Watch.
