Will the iPhone 12 be able to stick to a car magnet mount? For example currently I stick the mount to the dashboard using 3M tape. I adhere the metal mounting plate inside my iPhone 8 case and the magnet mount holds my phone.
However, the metal plate will interfere with wireless charging so as that has to be removed, will the iPhone 12 stick without that metal plate?
Not sure it's even a question that can be answered yet!

The iPhone 12 sticks to my car magnet mount without a problem if I do not have a case on the phone. I have tried two cases - one very thin and the other ordered from Apple, and both cases prevent the phone from sticking to the car mount. Since I hesitate to add an additional magnet to the case, I am hoping Apple comes out with a case that does not interfere with the magnet in the phone.
I have this magnetic mount and my iPhone 12 sticks to it. Sure not sure how health it is for my phone as it’s sticking to the magnet where the mag-safe charger is.
It may not (probably not, actually) work with existing magnetic mounts. That remains to be seen.
However, manufacturers are currently working on mag-safe car mounts that should be available soon.
I did originally ask Apple support but they didn’t have an answer so I posted here.

No. My iPhone 12 (with or without the MagSafe case) doesn’t stick on my current magnetic mounts in the car. Pretty disappointed.

Mine doesn't stick well at all with magsafe silicone case, super disappointed. Wondering if I attach a magnet inside this magsafe case if that will mess up the charging apparatus.
I can tell you they do not hold the phone for very long. the MagSafe in the phone is just not strong enough. They are fine as long as you are not driving but as soon as you get moving they fall.
FYI, my iPhone 12 Pro with MagSafe case will not stay attached to a regular magnetic mount.

Is the new mag charger strong enough that it you mounted that in the car it would hold the phone?
I have tested by iPhone 12 Pro and The phone will stay magnetically attached to the mag safe car charger without a case or with a mag safe case.
iPhone 12 will not stick to the magnetic mount on its own i.e without the little back plate
