AirPods Pro picking up background noise on call

Joseph can you please explain in more detail.....?

Some posts from September/October last year suggest a firmware update for the AirPod Pros resolved this issue.

Can anyone confirm before I shell out €280 for these?

I've just sent my brand new airpods pro back. I don't know how anybody uses these for anything but playing music. For conference calls, phone calls, etc, they are unusable.

This response has nothing to do with the issue. Your advice only helps the wearer of the AirPods and not the person on the phone that can hear everything in the background amplified by 10!

Very eagerly awaiting the outcome of this upgrade - currently on the edge wanting to buy some ear buds, and this issue has made me hold off on airpods

Pewterss2 - did you get a ticket/case number from Apple that we could reference?

Disappointed with this mediocre answer by Apple support which has nothing to do with the other person hearing background noise.

This fix actually worked for my regular calls as well.

What fix?

I just got the apple airpod max and I’m so embarrassed to tell my friends the loud voices and sound they hear over the phone are due to my expensive investment in these failed head phones.

Thanks for the suggested problem solving steps. We followed the steps in a controlled environment with high background noise (i.e., in our house with a loud TV in the background). Unfortunately, the AirPod Pro performance was poor regardless of the auto, left, or right mic setting. We then tested wired Apple earbuds and, while the other party could hear the TV, the sound quality was much better without the warble, high pitch screeching, and overall background noise level. At this point my plan is to ask Apple to refund my purchase of the AirPods Pro and I will go back to my Jaybirds until/unless Apple fixes this.

EXCELLENT!!! I was too excited so I did not wait for our man Joseph to explain - START A Facetime call with somebody. Once the call is running tell them they are your assistant for a moment, and now swipe down top right to open the control center menu - Under ios 15 there is a new setting for differing Mic settings - toggle the little tab which shows Mic and see there are three available settings. Joseph recommends we choose Voice Isolation, which sounds pretty **** good so let's do that people!! Thanks Joseph!!!
