Spam AOL mail account that’s not mine

I keep getting mail on my iPhone that’s says it’s being sent to account ***@aol.com I don’t have an aol account. This account isn’t under my accounts in the mail settings and I can’t block these emails it get rid of it. I saw someone else was experiencing this problem but no one responded.

I just saw this on another website and I thought I’d share it!

In Gmail (NOT the mobile app):

1) Go to settings

2) Click ‘see all settings’

3) Select ‘Filters and Blocked Addresses’

4) ‘Create New Filter’

5) Fill in the ‘To’ line with the address that you are receiving email for, but which doesn’t belong to you.

6) Hit ‘Create Filter’

7) Select what you want done with it. I chose to ‘Delete it’ AND ‘Also apply to # matching conversations’.

8) Move on with life.

I have a question that bounces off some of the “Trial-and-Error” people are going through for this discussion.

people are deleting apps on their phone to try and see if the emails stop sending. This gets me thinking that when you download a particular app and accept their “Terms and Conditions” and you click the box that says “Allow my information to be shared.” This is where the problem starts.

if you are aware which apps are associated to the inbox which the spam is being sent to, you should try to delete those or even remove accessibility from them to not allow them to use your private information.

can anyone maybe make a list of apps that they’ve downloaded that caused the emails to stop?

I too am getting blasted with SPAM showing a sender as my email followed by AOL.com. When sending a test email to the sender AOL kicks it back saying invalid. So clearly the AOL email in question is a screen of some sort and its probably being delivered to my Gmail. I’ve tried using the filter feature but that does not work since the AOL.com email is clearly a pseudo one. These problems started after the latest software upgrade to IOS 15.
