Spam AOL mail account that’s not mine

I keep getting mail on my iPhone that’s says it’s being sent to account ***@aol.com I don’t have an aol account. This account isn’t under my accounts in the mail settings and I can’t block these emails it get rid of it. I saw someone else was experiencing this problem but no one responded.

I just saw this on another website and I thought I’d share it!

In Gmail (NOT the mobile app):

1) Go to settings

2) Click ‘see all settings’

3) Select ‘Filters and Blocked Addresses’

4) ‘Create New Filter’

5) Fill in the ‘To’ line with the address that you are receiving email for, but which doesn’t belong to you.

6) Hit ‘Create Filter’

7) Select what you want done with it. I chose to ‘Delete it’ AND ‘Also apply to # matching conversations’.

8) Move on with life.

I had all at the Candy Crush Saga games for a couple of years but deleted them anyways. Toy blast and toon blast are the other couple I think. I just deleted everything and started over. I don't spend money on games so I had no money to lose. Just the level that I was at. They were time wasters for Dr's offices and appointments. They really weren't important to me so it was easy. If you are really in to games then you might have a different situation.

i did that months ago and yeah it worked but to my surprise so many of my very important emails (that always came to inbox ) now all went to junk and some straight to trash !

it was a fluke I found them ! So I took the filter out now !

seems I don’t have as many coming !

i believe this is all from online purchasing ! My fiancé does shop online at all and he doesn’t have this issue at all!

Last time I did with everyone did apply the filters Eventually it started taking some of my good mail in putting it automatically either a trash or a junk I was waiting to hear A response with a lawyer that I was working with in weeks I went by she finally called me I then looked in the junk mail and the trash and somehow it was automatically sent the trash. So yes setting up the settings on a desktop work but eventually you’re good meals going to end up there too so I had to reverse that after three months.

Getting worse by the day I set up filters & block the accounts they are coming from but now they are coming through with dates as recipients of the emails or letters within brackets not just the names other than my own @aol.com like this

[*to] or this cONTACT@ec2-35-73-28-37.ap-northeast-1.compute.amazonaws.com & it’s just getting ridiculous.

This is Google allowing this crap to happen. Had my Gmail account for many years & now this BS is becoming so bad.

And these that are not even for my account are in addition to all the spam.

Someone needs to take Google down because they are aiding in facilitating this crap.

That sounds like an excellent idea. I am so sick and tired of hundreds of emails in my gmail not addressed to me either in TO: or CC: Some are addressed to aol accounts others to numbers that look like dates, others to series of numbers and letters I’ve tried moving to junk, blocking, and filtering the bad addresses but they still keep coming. I get close to 200 junk emails a day and there seems to be no way of stopping them. Never had anything yo do with any porn site but get crap like that also not addressed to my email. Never had this problem until it started mid 2020 and pretty sick and tired of Google doing nothing no matter how many accounts I report. This is complete and utter BS! The only emails in our inboxes should be only the ones addressed to our actual email & no one else’s.

if you block an address it should be returned as undeliverable not put in our inbox or junk or even trash. Ready to stop using Gmail because of this frustrating crap.

All this BS they refuse to address has caused me to have to set up a separate account for my medical and bills which gets no junk at all. Guessing I’ll have to use telegram and tell Google to go screw itself if they can’t fix this screwup they are responsible for. If I sound PO’d it’s because I am!!!!!

This issue has only hit me in the last couple of months, but is now driving me totally nuts. Main question for me is: Why the heck is gmail sending us emails to an address that isn't even a legitimate Gmail address? There will always be spammers trying all sorts of ways to send you their lousy stuff, but how can Google allow this to happen, and in fact make it work for the spammers? Why have they not fixed this problem??? This is happening on my desktop (Mac), but this is not an Apple issue - it's all on Google and Gmail!

I’m receiving multiple mails with @aol.com. Different configurations I’ve never had any account with aol. I did go to gmail settings and created at least 3 filters but that is when I discovered the differences in the formatting. Do I have to block all of them. They didn’t show up in the gmail box but only in apple’s mail. So I’m not sure that blocking it in gmail is going to rid me of the problem. Any suggestions?
