Emails not saving in draft on iPhone

I have a iOS 13.1.3 and an iPhone 7. Yesterday I had to delete my mail account and re-connect because of a new network security fix and certificate trust upgrade by my email provider — register.com


I have a POP account and synchronise.


ever since re downloading all mails (although the last bunch haven’t come onto the phone yet) I have been unable to save drafts — they just go into the ether ! The mailbox exists though but keeps showing “no mail”


anyone able to help please - I hope the answer is not to delete the account and do the whole process all over again !!

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with your drafted emails not saving as they should. First suggestion would be to update to the correct iOS, 14.1. Making sure that you have the most up to date software can generally fix most issues.

You may want to try offloading the mail app itself and reinstalling it. To do this, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Mail > Offload app. What this process does, is retain your app data, and simply removes the app and its software from the device. Once done, reinstall the app to have a fresh copy on your device.
