If your drive keeps unmounting— it is one indicator the drive is failing.

You can try—

If the external drives are all formatted and set up the same way, but this drive is the only one with problems, then either the drive or its cable are probably failed. Try another cable, if that does not fix it then the drive needs to be replaced. If it is new then it is probably still under warranty.

Have you run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up" or anti-virus apps on your Mac?

Did you reformat the drive before using it for Time Machine? It should have a GUID portion map

and formatted OS X Extended (journaled).
